In Daily Musings on December 1, 2012 at 12:34 pm

Aids Day2

34 million people are infected with the HIV/AIDS virus around the world.  In the United States alone, more than one million people are living with HIV, and more than 500,000 are people of colour.  It’s time to get the numbers to ZERO!!!

Get Yourself Tested, Know Your Status, Buy and USE condoms… IT’S IMPORTANT!  I’m talking about your life here! Always choose YOUR LIFE over unprotected sex, it’s that simple!

Today is National HIV Awareness Day. It’s really simple people, GET TESTED!! Know your status! It’s important. If you were tested last year, 2 years ago, whatever, get tested again. Your current status is important to your LIFE!!! Just last week I read there is a female crisis among poor black women in the Washington, DC area. http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-06-21/news/32356377_1_hiv-cases-hiv-rate-heterosexual-epidemic

Whether you’re poor, middle class, rich, black, white or green, The HIV infection is an equal opportunity disease. WRAP UP ~ TAKE THE TEST~ TAKE CONTROL! What’s your excuse?

The artwork above by Rachi Creations is a symbol of solidarity for people already living with HIV/AIDS.

Are You Rocking Red Today???

In Daily Musings on March 10, 2012 at 8:20 am

As I mentioned on Thursday, today March 10th, is National Women and Girls’ HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The Red Pump Project has asked for all bloggers to blanket the blogosphere red, today, so here I am.  Remember it’s more than a fashion statement, it’s about women demonstrating that awareness is always in style.  Remember every 35 minutes a woman is diagnosed with HIV.  Here’s my own spin, if you don’t own a pair of red pumps, rock your red blouse, belt, handbag, whatever you have in red, lets show support for this very important day.

Will You Be Rocking Your Red Pumps?

In Charities, Daily Musings on March 8, 2012 at 10:17 am

Saturday March 10, is National Women & Girls’ HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.  This is a nationwide observance launched by the Office of Women’s Health in the United States to encourage people to take action against the fight against HIV/AIDS.  Those of you who have been following me, will remember that I wrote  a post about “The Red Pump Project” a couple of months ago; highlighting what they do, within my post I said I would remind you closer to the date, Well ladies the time is here.

The Red Pump Project raises awareness about the impact of  HIV/AIDS on women and girls.   Black women represent 66% of  all new diagnoses.  This is a subject of high importance to every single one of us, whether in a committed relationship or not.  We need to take care of ourselves.  Ladies talk to your daughters, talk to your relatives, talk to your friends.  GET TESTED.  Too many of us are dying from what is mostly a preventable disease (there have been cases of tainted blood transfusions, but steps have now been put in place to prevent this, though too late for the father of a good friend of mine).  Please take the time to think before you act.  No amount of pleasure is worth dying for!  Click here for HIV/AIDS 101  http://www.theredpumpproject.org/hivaids-101/

Once again, THINK BEFORE YOU ACT, GET TESTED!!

Are you rocking yours?

Designer Sex Anyone…

In Daily Musings on February 8, 2012 at 5:12 pm

Well it’s finally happened, there is now a Louis Vuitton condom! Priced at $68.  Now wouldn’t $69 have been a better price point? (smirk!) Why oh why do we need a designer condom?? and for $68!!!! I think I’m extremely fabulous, but I don’t think I need a Louie condom, Trojans will do!  Apparently an architect from Georgia Republic, Irakli Kiziria designed the condom, there is no affiliation with the esteemed designer store, So don’t go running to your nearest Louis Vuitton store to buy a pack  (ladies you should always have your own pack of condoms at the ready).  Irakli and his team are hoping to launch the product on World Aids Day and donate the proceeds to amFAR, The Foundation for Aids Research.  It’ll be interesting to know what Mr. Marc Jacobs has to say about this.  Marc might find it funny but I don’t think Bernard Arnault, the head of LVMH will.  If nothing else I can see a major lawsuit coming Mr. Kiziria’s way. Happy Hump Day!
