A Truly Busy Day…

In Daily Musings on February 5, 2013 at 4:59 pm

Beautiful Hat IIDo you sometimes wish you could clone yourself? Between filling orders, doing taxes, taking photos, uploading photos {and then of course my camera battery died and I didn’t charge the back up!)¬†plus trying to write a draft on my trip to London for this blog, there is just not enough time in the day!

The image above is one of the many photos I’ve taken today, for the Maylana’s Closet Boutique. Being an entrepreneur is extremely rewarding, but there are times when we just need to grow¬†an extra pair of hands.

Excuse me while I try to clone myself! ūüôā

I’m Back From London!!

In Daily Musings on February 4, 2013 at 9:26 am

Well good morning Dahhlings! I am now back in the States (I returned last Wednesday) and after¬†resting and several days of jet lag, I’m now back to writing on my blog. Even though I’ve though tired, I’ve been busy filling orders for¬† my crochet hats. ¬†Apparently, there was a huge demand for them while I was away, so my fingers have been very¬†busy.¬† I’m truly thankful to my customers and that God has blessed me with this talent.

Over the next few days I’ll be posting my birthday and travel photos of my time back home in London.

Until then, have a Fabulous, Amazing and Extraordinary Monday, I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Happy Wednesday Dahlings! I’m taking a short break from crocheting hats, my fingers are a little sore; I truly deserve this little rest {maybe it’s time for a cocktail!}. I’ll be back to business later on this evening or ¬†tomorrow.¬† I hope you’re enjoying your Wednesday; we’re half way to the week being over, and I’m 6 days away from flying through the air¬†to London.

My posts will be brief for the next few days, until my day of departure; after that you’ll be reading all the fabulous details of my trip, which will be titled “The London Diaries“{at least that’s the working title today :-)}. Stay tuned!

Crochet Away!

In Daily Musings on January 8, 2013 at 10:01 pm

Even with the excitement¬†of my impending departure to London, I am crocheting my little heart out.¬† It seems my customers (new and¬†old)¬†have realized I’m going away for a little while, and I’m receiving orders for my¬†crochet hats left and right!.¬† I’m always on the look out for unusual crochet hooks and found the ones below on a site called Simply Art.¬†The hooks above are hand carved in India; I think they’re simply gorgeous! I’ll be ordering a set when I return.

I’ve completed quite a few¬†orders today and I’m pooped!

The Elves Have Been Busy…

In Daily Musings on December 23, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Hi Dahhlings! It truly has been¬†a very¬†busy last few¬†days, so busy, that I never got¬†a chance to write¬†my last-minute shopping guide among other blog projects.¬† The collage above should explain why I’ve been MIA! It’s been a pleasant problem to have, I truly enjoy creating elegant items for my customers, and this time of year is especially busy.

I hope you’ve gotten all of your gifts,¬†decorations, delicious¬†food and all the other important goodies¬†for the big day. 2 days to go!!!

If you haven’t gotten your gifts yet {tommorow is Christmas Eve!} I suggest you take yourselves to the nearest supermarket or drug store,¬†and buy some of those well-known gift cards! Itunes, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn, anyone?

Monday’s T√™te-√†-T√™te, Pinterest & Other Musings…

In Daily Musings on October 22, 2012 at 12:12 pm

Happy Monday Sweethearts! How was your weekend?  Mine was restful, the weather was gorgeous, and honestly I did not accomplish everything I wanted, but I relaxed, got another cowl started, and had a wonderful and creative exchange of ideas with my sister, as to how we want to expand our entrepreneurial endeavours.

I did not go to the Women Who Rock exhibit at the National Women In The Arts Museum as I mentioned in Friday’s post,¬†but I promise,¬†I will be stopping by soon; so that I can tell you all about it {I’ve got until Jan 6! :-)}

A little artistic amusement for you!

And lastly, I found these gorgeous yellow suede¬†wedges on Pinterest, they have absolutely nothing to do with anything, but I felt they would brighten your Monday {they’ll certainly brighten mine}; plus I LOVE THEM!! ¬†I¬†hope you’ll¬†check out¬†my Pinterest boards, {there are 35¬†and counting!}.¬† If you’re a Pinterest addict like I am; follow me, let me know,¬†and I’ll follow you; I’d love to see what you’re up to.¬†¬†Creativity is what life is all about!! ¬†Click here to see boards

Wishing you a Fantastic and Productive Monday

Another Chic Monday…

In Daily Musings on October 15, 2012 at 1:28 pm

I had a really productive weekend; I¬†photographed and uploaded some new inventory to my Etsy store, drafted a¬† few potential¬†blog posts and was all around very¬†productive.¬† Having your own business, truly is a beautiful thing; lots of hard work, but totally worth it. Stay tuned to the beautiful crochet¬†cowls coming from Maylana’s Closet and the gorgeous¬†knits coming from Sassy Knits;¬†my big sister’s¬†entrepreneurial venture¬†in London.

Speaking of big sisters, here¬†she is being her usual¬†fabulous and¬†gorgeous self; seen here¬†with the extremely talented¬†Omar at his¬†concert in London on Saturday might; plus another pic with Jade {Baby Spice’s hubby}.¬† I miss my big sis and hope to see her soon.¬† Love you Al!! Smooches!

P.S. In case you’re wondering the beautiful clutch bag above is by Miu Miu.

Here’s a little Omar for you ~ One of my favourites, There’s Nothing Like This

Wishing you a Beautiful, Productive and Amazing week!

If I Were To Do It Again…

In Daily Musings on August 1, 2012 at 9:25 am

Get married that is!¬† This could possibly be the dress for me.¬† There is only¬†one word for this¬†gown… ¬†STUNNING!¬†As someone who crochets, this is simply amazing to me.

The intricacy of the stitchwork is simply remarkable craftsmanship. ¬†To me it truly is a museum quality¬†work of art.¬† I’m sure it took many months, or at least a year¬†to create.

Will I Be Forever 21?

In Daily Musings on April 30, 2012 at 12:12 pm

I’ve never visited the store Forever 21, I always thought it was full of cheaply made teenybopper clothing.¬† I was pleasantly surprised when a friend asked me to go with her because she was in search of some summer tops and didn’t want to spend a lot of money.¬† The store I visited in DC was 3 floors of floor to ceiling¬†tops, jeans, dresses, lingerie, practically anything you can think of to throw an outfit together.¬†¬†¬†

You could pretty much put an entire look together for under $100 very easily or go the low-end/high-end route.¬† I will admit it’s not a store I will visit often, though I’d probably pop back in there for some beach things and cute tops.¬† Judging¬†by the multitude of young ladies (some not exactly acting like it,but that’s another post all together) Forever 21 is a very popular spot and is in the same league as H&M, I prefer the latter.

The crochet dress¬†would be perfect in the spring over skinny coloured jeans and some high-heeled¬†wedges or worn with a vintage slip¬†underneath in the summer (you could wear same wedges or some flats).¬† One of the other reasons I bought it;¬†was because I’m in the business of creating crochet items for my boutique, Maylana’s Closet, and¬†I want to see if I can replicate it at some point.¬† It’s your basic shell stitch, it’s just a matter of figuring out stitch count, joining etc, but I digress…

I  hope this Monday finds you refreshed and ready for the new week; wishing you a glorious, fabulous and inspired week.
