Dior Couture with Patrick Demarchelier…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 3, 2012 at 10:02 am

Though this book was released back in November 2011 {and I still haven’t purchased my own copy!}, it truly is one of the most gorgeous coffee table books around.  With absolutely stunning images, taken in equally glamorous locations, by renowned fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier; he and the house of Dior have come together to chronicle some of the most beautiful and incredible haute couture.

The book takes us through a gorgeous pictorial voyage, through the history of the house of Dior.  Beginning with Christian Dior, Yves Saint Lauren, Marc Bohan and ending with John Galliano.  I had the chance to browse through this book  earlier this year, and it truly is a stunning piece of art, worthy of any well-dressed coffee table.

This book will definitely go on my 2012 holiday wish list!

I just found this Walter Steiger shoe from his 2013 Spring/Summer collection, and all I could say was WOW!

Anyone who knows me, knows I love my high heels, but for some reason these made my feet hurt just looking at them! {Although I do love them and think they’re sexy!}.

Would you wear?

A Few Of My Favourite Things…

Very much in love with this handbag by J. Mendel

Today should have been my monthly Object’s of Desire posting, where I would post something ultra extravagant, if I had unlimited funds and/or a Black Amex card.  Unfortunately my day started really late, so instead of giving you a half ass post, I’m posting a few of my favourite things.

I’m totally in love with the entire J. Mendel collection, lots of black {my favourite colour} as well as a strong reds, camels and greys. Click here to be taken to their boutique.

Wednesday With A Swirl…

In Daily Musings on August 22, 2012 at 9:37 am

I was a little hesitant to post this image as I have no idea who designed this stunning creation of a dress.  My sister always advises me, to try to post designer information whenever possible.  If anyone knows who the designer is, please let me know.

The fit; the beading, the swirl of the train, with its Pucciesque print {could it be Pucci?} is in a word… Gorgeous!  The print reminds me of the beautiful latte art some baristas are able to create with steaming milk; a skill in itself, which can take years to master.

For me it truly is, Wednesday with a swirl.

 Happy Wednesday Dahhlings!

I’m Loving…

These Valentino gold heeled Oxfords; from his F/W 2012 collection.  I discovered them yesterday, and immediately fell in Love.  I’m normally a 4″ heel girl, but I think my tastes are changing and I’m becoming a bit more diverse when it comes to my shoes.  The high shine, on these are stunning, but what gets me more is the gold heel. Wow!

How would I wear: a tuxedo jacket with a low-cut close-fitting blouse (or with nothing underneath, but some strategically placed body tape), with either a pair of tuxedo shorts, a long black evening skirt (with a back split), or pair the tuxedo jacket with some really skinny black ankle length cigarette pants (a la Audrey Hepburn), Prada baroque sunglasses, red lipstick, and a little gold beaded clutch!  In my opinion, Tres Chic and very European!

Another idea, how about a crisp white tailored shirt, tucked into a black full length ball gown skirt with in-seam side pockets and a wide patent leather belt (remember you can thrift all of this!).  At $745 these shoes would take some saving up, but a girl can dream can’t she?

If you’re so inclined click here to buy.  If you think they’re too masculine, always remember ladies, a confident Diva can make anything look feminine!

I love my Prada Baroque Sunglasses ~ Best purchase ever!

Smooches Dahhlings!

I just found this gorgeous open-backed Chanel gown on Pinterest, and just had to post. It looks like an intricately beaded tattoo across your back. This dress commands attention! Only Chanel. Love it.

Wear Do You Sika?? (Repost)

In Daily Musings on May 16, 2012 at 9:32 am

This is a repost of a previously writtien article.  Quite a few people on Twitter and Instagram loved this particular piece, and asked me to repost; so here it is.  Happy Hump Day to all my fabulous bombshells!

For my birthday a couple of years ago, my sister Althea, bought me the most gorgeous 1950’s style dress, with an African twist.  Designed by a wonderful designer named Phyllis Taylor in London, who is the owner of a beautiful little shop named Sika Designs in South London.  I have been hooked on Sika dresses ever since, I wish she had a store here (sigh).  Ms. Taylor  who is of Ghanaian heritage creates her designs in London, which are then beautifully constructed with couture worthy stitching in Ghana; using genuine African fabric.

The Daisy Dress – From the new Labyrinth Collection

Sika dresses are statement pieces onto themselves, with their full skirts and layered petticoats (purchased separately) worn underneath.  A wide sash belt tied into a bow is the finishing touch on most dresses, you can’t help but be noticed.  For me Sika dresses are  “Mad Men” comes to Africa!

While wearing a Sika dress, you look and feel like an exotic, beautifully wrapped gift.  My sister has purchased other items for me from the Sika collection which I love equally; and now that the weather is about to break, look out for that bright spark of African fabric  in sky-high heels walking down the street; that will be me. Say hello if you see me 🙂

I would post a pic of me in my dress, but the quality of the photo once uploaded was blurry and not blog worthy.  I’ll take another pic soon.

Wow!!!

In Daily Musings on May 6, 2012 at 9:41 pm

I know I’ve been posting a lot of shoes lately, but there are so many interesting shoes out there, in other words expect a whole lot more! Now, when I came across these, I didn’t even know what to say. Never have a pair of shoes left me speechless.  These are Christian Louboutin 8″ ballet pumps!  I’m pretty sure that the only thing you can do with these, is to place them in prime position and just admire them. They are obviously museum pieces and weren’t created to be worn!! (who could!)  They’d look really nice on my coffee table.  Mr. Louboutin does it again.

Have a fabulous Sunday evening.  See you tomorrow.  It’s going to be a fabulous week.

Stay Inspired!

Smooches!

The house of Alexander McQueen continues to reign. Where else can you find engraved platform sandals? These beauties are beyond fabulous. How do you wear them? You put on your most daring dress, then sit demurely with your legs elegantly crossed and admire them, with cocktail in hand! (I’m all for dressing up at home). Do you really want to wear them outside?

I hope you’re having a fabulous Sunday it’s gorgeous outside; do something nice for yourself!
