Sugarplum Booties For Spring…

In Daily Chronicles, Daily Musings, New Loves! on March 11, 2014 at 7:31 pm

Jeffrey Campbell Sugarplum Bootie, Maylana's Chronicles, Maylana's Closet, #jeffreycampbell

Hi Darlings!  For those of you in the DC metro area, I hope you’re enjoying this freaky 70+ degree weather. Unfortunately, we’re about to take another big dip in temperature, within the next couple of days, so enjoy this gorgeous weather while you can.  If spring ever decides to show up, these Sugarplum booties by Jeffrey Campbell should be a definite must have.

It appears this style of bootie is all the rage for 2014, {Sarah Jessica Parker, has an open toed version, Zara also has something similar, to name a few}.  I don’t really follow trends, but this is a classic that has been around for quite some time.

Available in a multitude of interesting colours and textures, I do have a soft spot for these beauties in pastel pink leather.  Available at Nasty Gal

My Target + Neiman Marcus Moment…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on December 1, 2012 at 7:53 am

 carolina Herrera stationary2

Well Dahhlings, it’s finally here! The legendary partnership between Target and Neiman Marcus. What do I think? Well I logged on at 6:30 a.m. this morning looking to be completely wowed and I WASN’T.  Everything just looked a little blah and inexpensive, I was going to use the word cheap, but decided to be nice!  Now before you start screaming, remember this is just my personal opinion.  Yes I know it’s Target (which I love, who doesn’t?), but the collab between them and Liberty of London is still my overall favourite, and nothing has really compared, except the Missoni duvet set, sheets and shower curtain {which I sadly didn’t get}.

The Target website seemed pretty limited, so I’m sure there is so much more in the stores.  I did see some nice things in the lookbook which did not appear online, so again maybe you just have to go to the store.

The only items which caught my eye, were the Carolina Herrera stationary set, the Brian Atwood leather gloves and the Alice + Olivia bike at $499.  Also, I really liked the Tracy Reese blouse and ceramic plates.  I  did order the stationary set for myself and my sister because we both love paper  {I still might order the Tracy Reese plates}.  I thought about the Brian Atwood gloves long and hard, but again, I just wasn’t moved by them.  If they’re still around and I see them in person (which I doubt), and the quality is nice, I might cave in.  If you find items you love in the collection, or just your thoughts about it, let me know.  Visit www.target.com

Happy shopping!

The Beautiful Art Of Letting Go…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 31, 2012 at 10:27 am

This beautiful and inspirational poem by Ernest Holmes was posted on my Facebook timeline a few days ago, and it truly moved me; it moved me to the point where I felt I had to share it with you.  This poem beautifully illustrates the art of letting go.  Sometimes you just have to “LET GO” What did you let go of today?

She Let Go

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear.  She let go of the judgments.

She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.

She let go of the committee of indecision within her.

She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons.

Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go.

She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go.

She let go of all of the memories that held her back.

She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.

She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it.

She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer.

She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper.

She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.

She didn’t analyze whether she should let go.

She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter.

She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment.

She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.

No one was around when it happened.

There was no applause or congratulations.

No one thanked her or praised her.

No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort. There was no struggle.

It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that.

In the space of letting go, she let it all be.

A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her.

And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

Exquisitely Painted Pumpkins…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 25, 2012 at 8:35 am

While perusing the ever so addictive Pinterest, I came across this gorgeous painted pumpkin, which was featured in  the October issue of Chatelaine Magazine.

It was the vibrant colours which really caught my eye.  It never once occurred to me to hollow out a pumpkin, then paint it and fill it with flowers. The good thing is, you don’t even have to hollow out {less work!}, you can just paint as is and viola, a beautiful piece of art created by you!

Thanks to Chatelaine Magazine, this is a DIY project I will try in the near future.  Get yourselves some sample size paints at Home Depot or Lowes and paint away to your heart’s content. Who would have thought!! Off to the supermarket I go!

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Special Edition…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 11, 2012 at 4:23 pm

I’m just loving the beautiful red shoes Giuseppe Zanotti has just released.  These beauties are a recreation of the red mules, the iconic actress, Katherine Hepburn, wore in the classic movie, Summertime, which was released in 1955 {I love black and white/old movies, the clothes, the style!}.

This beautiful recreation in suede with gold piping, studded with red crystals will truly make you the belle of the ball, this upcoming holiday season.

Find them here at Shoescribe.com

{From The Archives} I’m Going Naked 2…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 9, 2012 at 7:53 am

This is an article I posted back in February 2012 {now slightly revised}; I decided to repost, because I thought these colours would be gorgeous for autumn, and also, at the time of writing, my blog was only a month old 🙂

No I’m not going that naked!! But Naked 2 by Urban Decay. It’s one of the best and hottest eyeshadow palettes… EVER!  This has been the most anticipated sequel to the original Naked Palette, the stores could barely keep it on the shelves, when the original came out, and can you believe there was a waitlist for this one!

With the Naked palettes you can literally create hundreds of beautiful eyeshadow combinations, you can mix them, use each on its own, do whatever your creative heart desires.  Well I’ve finally got mine and I’m very happy. If you’re anything like me, treating yourself is always a happy occasion, worthy of a celebration.

If you’re looking for a Naked Palette tutorial for a smokey eye click here

The original Naked consisted of 12 neutral shades which included colours to create the smokey eye look.  The new palette consists of 12 Taupes and what they are calling “Greige” neutrals. I also love the names of the colours, Booty Call, Tease, Suspect, you get the drift.  Urban Decay has done it again!  Beautiful colours and  beautiful packaging; this set would also make a chic holiday gift.  $50.00 at Urban Decay, Sephora {click links to shop}, and other stores. Go get yours!!

I’m Back!!!! Rocking Studded Chucks!!!

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 6, 2012 at 6:09 pm

Well After my mini hiatus, due to illness, I’m back! Look out for new posts, new outlook, new attitude.  These studded Chucks should let you know exactly how I’m feeling…  FULL OF LIFE, FIERCE AND READY TO BLOG ON 🙂 These chucks have a true rock chick vibe and I’m loving them!!

How would I style?  I’d wear a vintage men’s sweatshirt, DIY of course, with the neck cut at a slant, so its off the shoulder, some really skinny jeans or leggings, or, since we’re having a little Indian summer; instead of the jeans I’d pair with my short cargo shorts and my Longchamp bag in Bilberry thrown in for good measure; of course we can’t forget the Baroque Pradas!

Available at Free People Click here Also available at What Goes Around Comes Around click here.  And for those of you so inclined, there are many tutorials available online, to show you how to stud the pair you already own.

It’s good to be back!

Smooches Dahhlings!!!

Dior Couture with Patrick Demarchelier…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 3, 2012 at 10:02 am

Though this book was released back in November 2011 {and I still haven’t purchased my own copy!}, it truly is one of the most gorgeous coffee table books around.  With absolutely stunning images, taken in equally glamorous locations, by renowned fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier; he and the house of Dior have come together to chronicle some of the most beautiful and incredible haute couture.

The book takes us through a gorgeous pictorial voyage, through the history of the house of Dior.  Beginning with Christian Dior, Yves Saint Lauren, Marc Bohan and ending with John Galliano.  I had the chance to browse through this book  earlier this year, and it truly is a stunning piece of art, worthy of any well-dressed coffee table.

This book will definitely go on my 2012 holiday wish list!
