Christmas ball 1

Can you believe Christmas is here again!!! I remember Christmas 2014 very clearly, the time is just flying by.  My busy schedule did not allow me time to buy a tree, and I’ve been noticing the holiday mannequins which have been showing up on the social media circuit and I was very intrigued.  I decided to create my own.  Here is my version of the decorative Christmas mannequin.

Christmas, Xmas, Holiday, Mannequin

I used 6′ of artificial greenery which I bought from Target about 10 years ago; it already had the white frosted acorns attached, I then added some glass Christmas ornaments and for added glamour I then added the fairy lights.

To get you in the true holiday mood, here are 3 of my favourites. Do You Hear what I Hear by Whitney Houston,  Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt and Silent Night sung by the Temptations and another version of Silent Night sung by  Mariah Carey.

Wishing you a fabulous and joyous Christmas!

Exquisitely Painted Pumpkins…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 25, 2012 at 8:35 am

While perusing the ever so addictive Pinterest, I came across this gorgeous painted pumpkin, which was featured in  the October issue of Chatelaine Magazine.

It was the vibrant colours which really caught my eye.  It never once occurred to me to hollow out a pumpkin, then paint it and fill it with flowers. The good thing is, you don’t even have to hollow out {less work!}, you can just paint as is and viola, a beautiful piece of art created by you!

Thanks to Chatelaine Magazine, this is a DIY project I will try in the near future.  Get yourselves some sample size paints at Home Depot or Lowes and paint away to your heart’s content. Who would have thought!! Off to the supermarket I go!

Book Clutches To Behold…

In Daily Musings on October 10, 2012 at 10:29 am

Do you want everyone to know you’re an elegant book-worm? If you’re like me, you always have a book in your bag {though some prefer Kindles or Nooks, I still prefer paper}; well you can with these beautiful quirky reinterpretations of hardcover literary classics; recreated as book clutches by Parisian designer, Olympia Le-Tan.  Chanel and Kate Spade also have their own versions {I love the Chanel one above}.  For those of us who’ve been around a while, we know this trend is not new.

I remember the Vogue magazine clutches of the 80’s, glossy elongated envelopes created with classic Vogue covers.  I wish I had one now! These unique treasures have lately been seen on the red carpet of various events.  The clutches are retailing between $1120 – $1420. What I do love about the Olympia Le-Tan clutches is that they are lined in beautiful Liberty of London fabric.

It appears the  Olympia Le-Tan clutches, which appeared around 2009 are becoming collectors items, because the more popular titles have become hard to come by, and of course are selling on eBay at ridiculous prices.  If you are DIY inclined (the route I would go!), here is a link by Scibbit which shows you step by step how to create your own book clutch for a fraction of the price. click hereand here’s another tutorial from the Huffington Post; creating a clutch from an actual book. click here

Before & After…

In Daily Musings on May 22, 2012 at 12:01 pm

I bought this vintage mirror a couple of years ago, with the intention of repainting it.  Alas it has moved around  my living room numerous times, before I finally relented and decided enough was enough.

I’ve always loved the blue of Tiffany boxes and I was determined to find the colour, which I did a couple of weeks ago in Home Depot.

Here is the finished product.  I won’t say it was a joy painting this mirror, As an Aquarian,  I love instant gratification, and this was NOT instant enough for me, but I persevered and I’m now the proud owner of a gorgeously painted mirror.

BTW: You may have noticed that there are now ads on my blog, I’ve been accepted as part of the WordPress AdWords Beta program.  AdWords is Google’s flagship advertising product, which can become a source of reveue (please click); so just in case you were wondering, there you are.
