Hello my Darlings…
Once again, it’s been a busy time for me, with an extended business trip to New York, and due to all manner of interruptions, I have not had a chance to blog in the last couple of weeks. Keep in mind, I’m always thinking of you, always writing and drafting articles, which will be released in the future, or may even become an eBook. It was important to me, to wish you a very cheery and bright Sunday.
This gorgeous yellow cup was a great find at HomeGoods. You can go crazy in that store (as well as Marshall’s and TJMaxx) if you’re not careful. I collect teacups and teapots (it’s the Brit in me) and could not walk away from this beauty. It’s a gorgeous addition to my collection, and to me, it represents the yellow daffodils and tulips, which are in abundance right now, and the steaming hot summer yet to come.

Hello darlings! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was absolutely gorgeous, fantastic weather, scoops of ice cream, with lots of sun. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Capital Jazz Fest, but I used the time wisely by getting a lot of projects completed, that really did need my immediate attention.
One of the projects I finally completed, was to list this gorgeous hand embroidered military jacket, painstakingly hand sewn by the wonderful Ms. Althea Anderson in London. You may remember Ms. Anderson, who wrote the wonderful guest blog post: “A Floetic Night With Floetry” click here to read her superb account of what must have been a beautiful and enchanting night. As you can see, she is a woman with many talents!

Hi Darlings! I hope you had a fabulous weekend, enjoying the lovely weather. Unfortunately I had dental surgery on Saturday, which actually wasn’t as bad as expected. I am a little swollen, and have some pain, but overall I feel quite good. My dentist gave me some great pain meds to boot, so it wasn’t all bad 🙂
Here’s me after surgery, by the time I got home, my right cheek looked a lot like Alvin’s {the chipmunk, for those who didn’t get that one}
I did get a lot accomplished, while recuperating; I had a mini photo shoot to distract myself from the discomfort, of a few beautiful and unique items, which will be added to my Etsy boutique later today. There will be an accompanying blog post about said items.
Two of the items will be the fabulous Sika dresses, which I have previously written about; there has been a lot of interest on my blog regarding these beautiful dresses, and I finally have two originals available for sale. So for those of you who have been emailing me about them, they have finally arrived. Read original blog post here.

It’s Sunday, and its been a really good day both professionally and personally. I’ve accomplished quite a lot today! I hope your Sunday has been as wonderful as mine. I’ve managed to complete 4 of my infamous crochet flower hats, made some sales, taken new photos for my Etsy store; and with my sister, we’ve managed to dream up even more fabulous ideas for our business. It’s great when you have a business partner, who’s on the same page as you, and then constantly brings added fabulousness and creativity every time! Love you SIS!
The hat above {originally called the Penelope hat}, is a staple of the Maylana’s Closet collection. The quote above, is quite fitting, because creating these hats is definitely one of the things my future self, will thank me for! In a future post I’ll tell you how the Maylana’s Closet crochet hats got started, it’s a story near and dear to me… Stay tuned!! Let’s dance because this is a brand new week; new beginnings, new experiences! After an insanely crazy, stressful and mind-blowing week last week, I’m ready to start this week off on a beautiful high and positive note.
I’m really excited about this week, my sister who is in charge of inventory, and who has been procuring some beautiful items in London for the Maylana’s Closet boutique, sent over some gorgeous pieces, which will be appearing in the Blog Shop and on www.etsy.com/shop/maylanascloset. I am looking forward to showing you what she’s found. I will be spending most of today photographing and getting ready to upload, so stay tuned.
Speaking of the Blog Shop, I am finally going to open the boutique, which has been on hold for months; watch out for its grand opening of pre-loved, new and vintage items. All transactions will be handled securely through PayPal.

Well now that you’re 10 pounds heavier and possibly a few hundred to a thousand dollars lighter, due to Black Friday shopping, I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving Day; giving thanks for your family, friends and where you are at this time in your life {I hope it’s a good place}.
Personally I don’t get sucked into the Black Friday shopping hype, in my opinion its major publicity in overdrive by the big retailers; I just truly prefer to shop in the comfort of my own home online, or go out to the stores when they first open on a lovely Saturday, and not be crushed in a wave of people pushing and shoving to get that “As Advertised” item.
If you were able to procure that special item you’ve been coveting, good for you, it’s nice when you get that special something for yourself or as a gift for someone else at a really good deal.
Tomorrow, November 24 is Small Business Saturday, and we small businesses count on you, especially at this time of the year. So before you spend all of your money at the big box and high-end retailers, please give us small fry a thought, the beautiful, handmade, vintage and one of a kind items you can find from us are second to none. I had a really productive weekend; I photographed and uploaded some new inventory to my Etsy store, drafted a few potential blog posts and was all around very productive. Having your own business, truly is a beautiful thing; lots of hard work, but totally worth it. Stay tuned to the beautiful crochet cowls coming from Maylana’s Closet and the gorgeous knits coming from Sassy Knits; my big sister’s entrepreneurial venture in London.
Speaking of big sisters, here she is being her usual fabulous and gorgeous self; seen here with the extremely talented Omar at his concert in London on Saturday might; plus another pic with Jade {Baby Spice’s hubby}. I miss my big sis and hope to see her soon. Love you Al!! Smooches!

I met a lovely young lady recently, who was wearing the most gorgeous ring on a chain around her neck. The reason said ring is placed there, is because she is 8 months pregnant, and therefore it’s not comfortable to wear at this time. When I asked her about it, she told me her uncle in law created it for her. Well… What an absolute treasure this turned out to be.
Who is her uncle? His name is Harry Roa, a fantastic jewelry designer based in Sarasota Florida. Harry is the designer and owner of Harry Roa Jewelry Design Studio and Gallery {click here}, as well as the OceanLily jewelry boutique which carry his limited editions on Etsy {click here}.
All of his designs are handcrafted using a combination lost wax process and fabrication. Harry uses Palladium, which is more precious than silver, whiter and lighter than platinum. Palladium is also a tarnish free metal. He also works with 14K gold.
Each piece of wearable art {and they truly are!} is embellished with quality precious gemstones and diamonds. Mr. Roa does not produce any molds of any of his pieces; therefore, making each piece a one of a kind. As per usual, I’m always perusing my favourite site, Etsy and I came across Opelle Creative; based out of Toronto, Canada. Opelle is the creator of a gorgeous line of handmade leather handbags, which would give the big name designers a run for their money.
I came across the Baby Opelle Botanist Bag, above {$338}, and it was an instant hit with me. Created from genuine cowhide leather, this beauty is a must have, with its elegant half moon style, huge tasselled leather zipper, and gold tone hardware.
Items are made to order and take approximately 2 weeks to complete. For a unique handmade handbag, that you won’t see everyone walking around with, it’s worth it!

Happy Wednesday Dahhlings. I have quite a few new followers and I want to Thank You all so much, for taking the time out to read my posts, and for your follows. Above is a collage which gives you a small snapshot into who I am and what I do. My day usually starts off at 6:00 a.m. with a 30-45 minute walk/run, a healthy breakfast (most days); then it’s hours of online research, finding tidbits of inspiration for my blog posts, as well as being out and about networking, and absorbing the outside world, which is one massive blog post in itself!
I also have an online store of the same name www.etsy.com/shop/maylanascloset, which consists of vintage, handmade, and All Things Beautiful™ (more items coming soon). There’s also my original boutique www.maylana.com which is now for promotional purposes. My company originally started with crochet accessories and now includes iPad covers (Look out for this Fall’s crochet collection). From there, I started my blog, then I opened my online vintage store; so far it’s been an incredible ride. I’ve met some wonderful and supportive like-minded people along the way.
Why is there a pink typewriter you ask? I have a passion for old-fashioned typewriters. Not long ago, I was able to pick up a Remington Noiseless for $7 at a garage sale (which you can see above) and I’m now on the hunt for a pink Royale (which I’m finding out are pretty expensive on eBay!).
You’ll rarely see me without my Prada Baroque sunglasses, I love those things; they are a true statement accessory, they are ME! Oh, and I love Peonies and Sunflowers; and of course, I always deserve new shoes!!
It was difficult to choose which collage to include, so I included them both; they’re pretty much the same with some variations. So there you have it, a teeny tiny glimpse into the world of Maylana’s Closet.
