An Inspirational Moment…

In Daily Musings on November 19, 2013 at 10:17 am

Good morning Darlings! I’ve posted this quote before, but I found it fitting to re-post today.

Never allow anyone, to try to remove your crown and throw you off your throne.  YOU ARE QUEEN

I’m sharing this link to an inspirational quote, posted by Joyce Meyer this morning, which was shared by a good friend today.  It was the second timely quote my friend shared with me just this morning; both quotes were so on point, they inspired me to write this post.  It’s amazing how timely certain messages come into your life.  Thank you Ms. J.

Maylana’s message: Be inspired by the bricks that may be thrown at you, continue building your firm foundation, and remember….  Stand your ground and have absolute Faith!

Have an Amazing, Fabulous and Truly Blessed Day!

“A Coward’s Dream” ~ An Indie To See!!

In Daily Musings on December 4, 2012 at 8:36 am

A coward's dream 2

About a month ago, I was honoured to be invited to the premiere screening of the independent movie “A Cowards Dream”.  A moving docudrama about how domestic violence starts and unfortunately ends. This gem of a movie was written, produced and directed by Dysco SwagisBack Jackson {don’t you just love that pen name} and Cellus Davis. This well crafted movie was created on a small budget with love, insight, and taste.

The movie follows Tina and Mark and how their perfect relationship suddenly turns into a horror movie. It shows how easily domestic violence starts and why so many women {and men} never report their abuse.

This could have been a dark feature because of the subject matter, but with great taste, humour was gently interjected to lighten the mood. Without giving the plot away, you will never look at whipped cream the same again; those who have seen the movie, know exactly what I’m talking about. Kudos to the actors who literally donated their talent to help make this movie happen.

Due to really high demand, there will now be a second showing of “A Coward’s Way” being shown on Thursday, December 6, at the Magic Johnson Theaters, 800 Shoppers Way, Largo, Maryland 20774.  You can purchase tickets here.  This will be the final screening for this highly praised and powerful movie.

This issue is close to the heart of Dysco; due to the tragic event of a family member, he is petitioning for Domestic Violence Month to be moved from October to May.  Because October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is another very important issue, Domestic Violence Month is being overshadowed.  It would be great if we could all help him make this move happen.  Dysco needs 25,000 signatures just to get started, we can do this!!!  Domestic Violence is a huge issue here in the United States.  To learn more on how to help click here

Dysco & Cellus deserve to be on their way to the Sundance film festival, lets help get them there. If you see no other indie this year {which is nearly over}, go and see this one, you’ll be glad you did, don’t just hear about it, BE THERE TO SUPPORT THEM!!

Monday’s Tête-à-Tête, Pinterest & Other Musings…

In Daily Musings on October 22, 2012 at 12:12 pm

Happy Monday Sweethearts! How was your weekend?  Mine was restful, the weather was gorgeous, and honestly I did not accomplish everything I wanted, but I relaxed, got another cowl started, and had a wonderful and creative exchange of ideas with my sister, as to how we want to expand our entrepreneurial endeavours.

I did not go to the Women Who Rock exhibit at the National Women In The Arts Museum as I mentioned in Friday’s post, but I promise, I will be stopping by soon; so that I can tell you all about it {I’ve got until Jan 6! :-)}

A little artistic amusement for you!

And lastly, I found these gorgeous yellow suede wedges on Pinterest, they have absolutely nothing to do with anything, but I felt they would brighten your Monday {they’ll certainly brighten mine}; plus I LOVE THEM!!  I hope you’ll check out my Pinterest boards, {there are 35 and counting!}.  If you’re a Pinterest addict like I am; follow me, let me know, and I’ll follow you; I’d love to see what you’re up to.  Creativity is what life is all about!!  Click here to see boards

Wishing you a Fantastic and Productive Monday

Heavier & Happier…

In Daily Musings on March 1, 2012 at 9:31 am

Michelle Gibson, a full figured woman who runs circles around her thiner counterparts, teaches 10 classes a week to full figured women.

Well it’s March 1st ladies, the last 2 months have flown by and it’s time to start shaping up to fit into the beautiful bold prints that are going to be around this spring/summer.  Before you know it, May will be here and you’ll realize you haven’t shed those extra pounds from Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I found this inspiring article in the Washington Post via Facebook a couple of days ago and thought it was worth posting. You’ll understand my post title once you read the article.  One of my many reasons for starting a blog was to help women no matter who they are feel good about themselves.  In my opinion, everyone is fabulous whether you are a size 4 or a size 20, it’s all about how you carry yourself, and more importantly are you healthy?  Being thin, does not instantly make you fabulous, or gives you an instant ticket to good health.  In the same token, being overweight is not good for your health and as you already know can lead to various problems to your overall well-being.

Dress appropriately for your body type, no matter what size you are, there is no excuse for being sloppy with your appearance.  You never really see articles posted in newspapers/magazines where they show real women working out, most print ads show size 4 models without any body fat lifting weights… yeah OK.  This article demonstrates the fact that you can be fit and agile no matter what your size and real women do work out.

Please take the time to read this article, it really is a good read and start your workout regimen NOW, even if it’s only walking for 30 minutes 3 times a week, every little bit counts.

Happy reading and work that body!
