Small Business Saturday 2016…

In Weekend Chronicles on November 28, 2015 at 12:24 pm

small business, small business Saturday, November 28

So…

Here we are again! Thanksgiving is over and its Small Business Saturday.  The million dollar question is… Where on earth did the time go!!! This year has moved so fast, there’s been no time to think.  One minute it was January 1, new year’s day, now we’re looking at Christmas all over again.  Today, November 28th, please support small business, whether online, or brick and mortar.  Entrepreneurs truly rely on you to make this a big day for them, especially with the holidays right around the corner.

There are so many ways to find beautiful items created and sold by a small business. Just walk down your local high street, there are probably quite a few there; Etsy is also a great place to find unusual gift items created by talented individuals, and also to discover items you won’t find anywhere else. Today, ditch the big box stores (trust me they’ve made their profits for the year 100 times over), and seek out a few small businesses and make an entrepreneurs day! Happy Shopping

And remember…

It’s A Wrap or is it a Poncho?

Browsing through the Zara website, I found this lovely go to item, and now I’m totally in love with this poncho/wrap.  I love the earthy colours; you can do a lot with this, throw it on over a pair of skinny jeans and a chunky turtle neck, add a pair of Minnetonka knee-high fringe boots, and you’re off to the races! At $49.90, the price isn’t bad either.

Available here.

Stylish Shaggy Wear…

October is really and truly here!  This morning it was 35 degrees, but thank goodness it got up to 55.  I’m more of a summer 90 degrees person myself, but I don’t mind this part of autumn, where the air is crisp and the sun is shining brightly.  October is layering month and if you’re looking for something funky to dress up those jeans and your heels, this shaggy cardigan jacket is a must have.

I bought this shaggy jacket a couple of months ago for exactly this time of year, lightweight, stylish but warm and cozy at the same time. I love it because it has a 70’s vibe to it and I love clothing from that era. I purchased this one from eBay where I buy a lot of my things, because I’m sure to find unusual and quirky items, which makes me stand out from the crowd.  I’ve had so many compliments on this jacket, I’m thinking of buying another in black!

Available here.

Tradesy!

I only heard about this resale site just this morning.  Since I’ve been out of the blogging loop for a while, I’m not even sure when it came into existence, well I’m glad I know now!! What is Tradesy you ask? Tradesy makes resale fast, simple and stylish; request a shipping kit, snap a few photos, Tradesy will enhance your image to make it look stunning, name a price (or they’ll suggest one if you need help) then use the pre-addressed shipping kit to send your items to them.  Once sold, items arrive in a Net-a-Porter worthy box to their excited new owner.

Tradesy takes 9% of the proceeds, and the rest is yours.  As a buyer, there’s also a money back guarantee, if your new items aren’t up to par!  You can also buy pre-loved and new clothing and accessories from Zara to Chanel to Hermes, just type in your desired brand name and the world is your oyster.

Tradesy seems to have a pretty large inventory for you to choose from.  If you’re looking for a new way to sell that Chloe Marnie bag, that’s been sitting on your eBay site forever, and hasn’t sold, Tradesy just might be the way to move it.

Visit Tradesy here

Happy shopping Darlings!

A Miracle Dressed in Red…

In Beauty, Daily Musings on October 6, 2014 at 5:57 pm

L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur

I was having lunch with a friend yesterday, when she mentioned how great my skin looked. After thanking her, it wasn’t until later on that I realized I forgot to mention a fabulous new product which is now part of my make up routine.  In part, my skin is looking great  due to my coffee scrub (yet  to be named) which I have been using for the past month. Coffee has been absolutely fantastic for my face and body. My  face is definitely smoother and my pores are smaller.  The product I’ve been using is L’Oreal’s Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother.

This product is unbelievable!! It literally creates an air brushed effect on your skin.  It comes in a cream or an oil free gel, which is the one I use, due to me having a true T-Zone.  How did this all come about?  I had run out of my beloved Pore Minimizer by Clinique, and due to minor surgery, I just could not get to my local Macy’s, so off to CVS I went.  I had just seen the commercial with Eva Longoria the day before, and my interest was peaked.  Well…  I was pleasantly surprised when I gave it a try; the label touts “the 30 second miracle” and I have to admit it’s true.  My t-zone instantly disappeared, my pores were smaller, my skin literally appeared smoother before my eyes!! My make up blended  more evenly with less work, and I also applied it on top of my make up for good measure.  I must say I absolutely love it!  I got about 4 hours out of it before I needed to touch up again, which for me is fantastic, as my skin tends to shine after a while.

This little gem is on the expensive side ($25), but I had two CVS cash coupons for $5 and $2.50, (I rarely shop without coupons!) compared to $18 for my Clinique product, but I assure you a little goes a long way.   I’ve had Miracle Blur for about 2 weeks now, and I don’t think I’ve made a dent in the tube.   I also purchased it because CVS has a fantastic no questions asked return policy, and my only risk was having to take the time to return it to get my money back.

If you’re looking for a product to give you that air brushed look and take away the shine, Darlings… This is it!!

Birkenstock Love…

In Weekend Chronicles on July 13, 2014 at 9:45 pm

Birkenstocks - Arizona Silver

You’ve just got to love Birkenstocks.  They have been around since the beginning of time. (at least it seems that way, I think Moses was wearing them!) A shoe that most of us would not have been seen dead in 20 years ago, but has now become an iconic style statement for every Stylista worth her salt and a wardrobe staple.

I myself own a couple of pairs, which I bought back in the mid 90’s and early 2000’s, way before they became the trend of 2014.  They are still  going strong today, and are in great condition.  The original Birkenstock, appears to be a shoe, that no matter what you do to them, they still keep going, and the comfort factor cannot be denied.  I think that’s why hippies loved them way back when.

A few companies have jumped on the Birkenstock “style” band wagon, Zara, Target, Steve Madden to name a few, creating their own version of this comfy shoe, but in my opinion, nothing beats the real thing.  Created in 1774, when Louis XVI ascended to the throne of France, a history tidbit that really has nothing to do with this post, but I thought I’d throw it in for good measure!

I don’t think this unlikely style statement is going anywhere any time soon.

You can read more on the history of  Birkenstock here and get your Birkenstock groove on here and here
