Browsing through the Zara website, I found this lovely go to item, and now I’m totally in love with this poncho/wrap. I love the earthy colours; you can do a lot with this, throw it on over a pair of skinny jeans and a chunky turtle neck, add a pair of Minnetonka knee-high fringe boots, and you’re off to the races! At $49.90, the price isn’t bad either.
This Zara fringed leather poncho needs no explanation… It is GORGEOUS!! It is EVERYTHING!!! I’m hoping it’s still available during the big Zara sale, but somehow I doubt it! Available at Zara.com ~ $249.00
Hi darlings, it’s an absolutely beautiful day, with an amazingly blue sky, and not a cloud to be found. After 3 days of dark heavy clouds and the pitter patter of rain, it was a relief to wake up this morning, to see sunlight streaming through my living room. I have a small crystal ball hanging in the window, so I was welcomed to a glorious rainbow spectrum, swirling around the room… Lovely!
The photo above, of the Zara shoes, I mentioned in last week’s post, “Zara Spring Things” was taken by the lovely Evy, who is one of my favourite Instagram friends, and also a very new blogger over at FashionistaOver40. Evy has the most amazing and elegant style, with a fashion stylist eye for detail, and is also a true shopaholic like myself. Please take some time to stop by her blog, and show her some blogger love.
We’re half way to the weekend, and the weather is supposed to hold up between now and then, we’ll see! Wishing you the most Fabulous Wednesday.
Happy Wednesday Darlings, here are a few of my favourite things from Zara. I’m totally in love with this fuchsia pink suit, talk about making a statement when you walk into a room. Yes, all eyes will be on you!
Loving this double-breasted waistcoat, I love the extended cut of the armhole, there’s so much you could do with this; dress it up or down, a classic go to item.
Looking for that easy to wear, comfy weekend dress? well here it is! Also comes in Coral and Makeup (nude). As I’ve said before, yellow truly is the colour of the season!
Cocktails anyone? Be the belle of cocktail hour in this little yellow number.
Add a pair of silver strappy shoes to any of these ensembles, a must have in any Stylista’s wardrobe.
Well we’re nearly half way to the weekend, I hope you’re having an amazing week so far. We’re supposed to hit 75 degrees in DC today, so I’m going to try to enjoy the sunshine, while I can, because who knows when it will disappear again!
Hello Darlings! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend as I did. You’ll be happy to know that the Maylana’s Closet Blog Shop is finally open! Right now the bangles shown above from my “Touch of India Collection” are available for purchase; there are also a pair of exquisite earrings {seen in 3rd pic below, 5 sets available) also for purchase. There will be more eclectic and beautiful items coming to the Blog Shop very soon. Click on the link above, and let me know what you think. Please bear in mind, it’s still a work in progress.
Part of my weekend was spent pampering myself, so I decided to give myself a pedicure. Color used was Estee Lauder Béte Noire ,{dark purple} with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top coat. {Sandals are by Zara, circa 2009} Ladies, pampering yourselves on a regular basis, is conducive to your well-being, it’s a must!♥
I plan to invest in a tripod very soon, so that I can start taking full length self portraits with my Canon T3i; I realize fully now, that as a blogger, a tripod is your best friend! In the meantime my trusty iPhone is going to have to do. Here’s a peek of what I’m wearing today.
On Saturday I decided to represent my 1st adopted home, New York!!! It was where I lived, my first 15 years in the U.S. I truly miss living there, there is nothing else like NYC! {click on the link, to hear my favourite New York song}. So with a pair of scissors, I slashed the neck of this tee-shirt, and I was on my way; having my own personal New York minute. I hope to take a trip there soon, great blogging material there.
I did not get a chance to participate in the Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday {I found 1000 other things I needed to do}, but I’m still hoping to bring you some gorgeous photos at a later date.
To round things out, I found this quote on Pinterest and simply love it…

After the extremely hot and humid summer we had {100+ degrees, 20 straight days} I’m actually glad Autumn is finally here, with temperatures ranging between 65 and 75 degrees. The mornings are now chilly {at least between 35 and 50 degrees} so you now have to dress in layers; but by mid morning/afternoon, its blue skies and gorgeous temperatures.
Here are some of my suggestions for key autumn transition pieces. I know you must have some variation of these looks in your closet.

Happy Monday dahhlings, I hope you had a beautiful and fabulous weekend.
After a really crazy day on Saturday, I decided to be spontaneous and venture down to Georgetown in Washington, DC, with its chic stores and cobbled streets (side bar – never ever go into Georgetown in clog heeled sandals). Going into Georgetown is always a harrowing experience, hence why I hardly go down there. Georgetown was fun and a mistake at the same time. It was great because I got to visit some of my favourite stores, Anthropologie, Zara, Cusp and Hu’s Shoes among others, and do a little shopping; now here’s the downside; Georgetown’s crowded cobbled streets are not meant for heels of any kind, it is strictly a flat shoe kind of town.
Those same cobbled streets will cause your feet to start screaming and you’ll also be spending most of your time conducting a high wire balancing act on those cobble stones. On top of all of that, there were what appeared to be thousands of people, most of them college kids on spring break, and then there was the awful traffic with drivers trying their absolute best to run you over. If you’re going into Georgetown to shop, you’ve got to go early and be out of there by noon (remember this was a spontaneous decision on my part). You’ll also find that Georgetown is like a black hole, it’s a hassle getting down there (no metro and driving is a nightmare, your only sane option is busing it, the Circulator is best); and definitely hard to get out of (can I get a bloody taxi please!!!).
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, I certainly did, minus the trek to Georgetown. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, there was no need to stay in. It appears we’re going to have this weather until at least Wednesday. We’ll see what mother nature decides to throw our way after that.
I just love these Chloe dresses! They look so light and airy and extremely fabulous with their fine accordion pleats. I think you’d look stylishly cool attending a outdoor summer wedding reception in one of these. I wonder if Zara or more likely BCBG Max Azaria will recreate a similar dress? These two among others tend to copy straight from the runway, or maybe it’ll show up next year at the Chloe outlet in Woodbury Commons, NY, that will be the only way I’m getting one.
Diane von Furestenberg S/S 2012
If you’re looking for something nice and crisp to wear while out meeting your best friend for brunch at Bouchon Bakery in New York, one glorious spring Sunday, you can never ever go wrong in this beautiful white Diane Von Furstenberg dress. Diane’s iconic wrap dresses are forever classic. Similar styles are available at Zara’s, Topshop, H&M and the like, if you’re trying not to break the bank.
Note: Because I’m not from the U.S., the whole not wearing white before memorial day doesn’t apply to me, who created that law? I’ve read the history, but as far as I’m concerned it doesn’t apply. Live dangerously, wear white whenever you like! Always remember, a Diva sets her own rules, she never ever follows!
Take my quick poll and let me know what you think!
This beautiful card my sister sent to me, congratulating me on starting my blog:
From the Fabulous Al, Thanks Luv! Yes we ONLY drink Champagne!
These fabulous Shades:
I think these are going to be my new summer shades, put the Pradas to rest for a while. Very 70's retro.
Yesterday, I treated myself to a new Mac Lipstick, called MAC Red, I’m into movie star reds right now and loving this one. I’m using it with MAC lipliner in Brick. Retiring Ruby Woo for a minute. I’ll take a pic soon and let you see what it looks like. It’s fabulous Dahhlings!
Such a fabulous colour!! Beware! Red lipstick is not for the faint of heart!!! Only the confident need apply!
This is going to be my next red lipstick, oh yes it is!!!
