Yellow Tea Cup - Compressed

Hello my Darlings…

Once again, it’s been a busy time for me, with an extended business trip to New York, and due to all manner of interruptions, I have not had a chance to blog in the last couple of weeks.  Keep in mind, I’m always thinking of you, always writing and drafting articles, which will be released in the future, or may even become an eBook.  It was important to me, to wish you a very cheery and bright Sunday.

This gorgeous yellow cup was a great find at HomeGoods.  You can go crazy in that store (as well as Marshall’s and TJMaxx) if you’re not careful.  I collect teacups and teapots (it’s the Brit in me) and could not walk away from this beauty. It’s a gorgeous addition to my collection, and to me, it represents the yellow daffodils and tulips, which are in abundance right now, and the steaming hot summer yet to come.

If you’d like to see more of the gorgeous pillow, pop over to my Etsy Store

A Blissfully Blessed Weekend…

In Weekend Chronicles on March 23, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Happy Sunday Darlings! Well today it’s a cold 43 degrees on this 4th day of spring.  Yesterday, we got to a whopping 67 degrees in Washington DC, and I must say quite a few people felt the need to take all their clothes off.  Not me!!! I was dressed in lovable layers.

Until I see a constant 75 degrees, I’m not removing too much.  This was me yesterday, browsing in Marshall’s, who had one of the best selfie taking mirrors.

No Super Bowl XLVIII Here!!!

What I’ll be doing during Super Bowl

I’m really not into the Super Bowl, every news, and talk show program this past week has made a reference or dedicated an entire show to this event. The only thing about the Super Bowl that entertains me, are the commercials, and to see which player is more handsome than the other, for me that’s the full extent of the Super Bowl.  So this evening is going to be a night of pampering, book reading, journal writing, watching Downton Abby and catching up on all those shows that have been sitting in my DVR since last year.

Susie Larson Blessings For The Evening #maylanaschronicles Maylana's Chronicles

I was given a gift at Christmas, of this beautiful little book, which I’m reading right now; it’s Susie Larson’s “Blessing’s for the Evening.  This is such an elegant little book, which is quite heavy for its size, with a beautiful padded cover, complete with gorgeous photography and inspirational quotes to help you wind down your evening on a positive note.  The premise is to read a devotional each night, but it’s so beautifully written,  and feels so lovely in your hands, you can’t help but read a few pages at a time.  You can see Susie’s beautiful quotes on Pinterest.

Blessings for the evening quote

For those of you who are football fans… Enjoy! May your team win! I’ll be sipping a glass of red.

The Thing About Mad Men…

In Daily Musings on January 17, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Is it’s addictive. I’m only 4 years late to the game, but Mad Men is fantastic!  Why did I not watch it before?? I’ve been catching up on reruns on all 4 seasons leading up to season 5, which starts in March.  It’s on at 6 and 7 a.m. on Sundays on AMC so I have my DVR set.  While I was recouping from my cold I watched 3 weeks worth (DVR is a lovely thing) Life sure was different in the late 50’s, it’s amazing how much smoking people did back then, how you were able to smoke in your office, on the airplane, smoke anywhere you pleased, I found it amazing.   It also reminds me of the sexism  that existed at home in the suburbs at that time, of a life as constricting as the corsets and the pearl chokers.  How far we women have come, As the Virginia Slims ads of the 70’s proclaimed “You’ve come a long way baby”  (please note I am not advocating smoking, I just think this was a cool ad).  Thankfully, today we’re not expected to stay home with our cute aprons on (they were cute though) with our hair immaculately done and tending to the 2.5 kids and stirring dinner on the stove!  That era could not handle the women of today, it would be all out civil war! As well as the acting which is fantastic, you know my focus is on the clothes! The women (as well as the men) got dressed up back then, clothing, no matter what time of the day was extremely important, that’s the only part of that time I’d like to see come back. There are many other things of that era, that I hope we never see again, although some version of it is still here! If you haven’t already, check out the show, I think you’ll like it.

Loving the green dress!!
