What I’ll be doing during Super Bowl

I’m really not into the Super Bowl, every news, and talk show program this past week has made a reference or dedicated an entire show to this event. The only thing about the Super Bowl that entertains me, are the commercials, and to see which player is more handsome than the other, for me that’s the full extent of the Super Bowl. So this evening is going to be a night of pampering, book reading, journal writing, watching Downton Abby and catching up on all those shows that have been sitting in my DVR since last year.

I was given a gift at Christmas, of this beautiful little book, which I’m reading right now; it’s Susie Larson’s “Blessing’s for the Evening“. This is such an elegant little book, which is quite heavy for its size, with a beautiful padded cover, complete with gorgeous photography and inspirational quotes to help you wind down your evening on a positive note. The premise is to read a devotional each night, but it’s so beautifully written, and feels so lovely in your hands, you can’t help but read a few pages at a time. Poetry In Motion…

Recently, I found this fantastic little app called “Poetry Magnets”, I used to own the actual magnets when I lived in NY, but somehow they got lost in my move to DC. I had hundreds of them spread all over my fridge, and I would create little ditties whenever my creative spirit moved me.

I was so happy to find these, they got me thinking about writing my poetry again. Writing poetry has been a passion of mine for many years now, which unfortunately had to be put on the back burner. Here are two couplets I’m sharing with you. Now that I have a creative outlet via my blog; look out for more of my work. I’ve actually written a small book of poetry, which has been ready for years; which I now plan to self publish. I hope to accomplish that major milestone very soon.

Monday Musings…

Hello Dahhlings! I hope you had a fabulous weekend, I know I certainly did. What’s made it even more so, is today is a holiday in the U.S., so we have one more day to relax and take it easy (kind of!). Most of my weekend was spent Skyping with my sister in London, discussing where we’re taking our company and searching for all the goodies we plan to present to you soon. Isn’t Skype the most amazing thing! I absolutely love it.

I’m in a really great place in my life, I feel like I’m going through a transition which has nothing but positive vibes attached to it. I’ve decided to reread the book “The Secret” which I bought back in 2007, for some reason the book is having more of an impact on me now, than it did when I first read it. I think I’m more mentally and spiritually ready for it now. If you are not familiar with “The Secret” it discusses the Law of Attraction and how to bring what it is you truly seek into your life. What books are you reading right now, to help motivate and inspire you? I’d love to know.

I love taking self photos with my iPhone, mostly to post to my Instagram, Facebook and Tumbler accounts. Here’s a collage I created on Saturday, showcasing a beautiful dress my sister gave me for my birthday, and some indian earrings I acquired while there.

This week will be yet another busy week, more hat orders to complete, baby wear being completed {by the wonderful Althea}, and buying and cataloguing inventory for the Maylana’s Closet Boutique. I’m happy to say I love being this kind of busy.

What are you reading today?

I’m coming to the end of “The 500” by Matthew Quirk. He is a relatively new author, and I’ll have to say, he really took off with this debut book. Absolutely loving it!! If you’re a fan of James Patterson {which I am}, you’ll love the pace of this thriller. Find it here at Amazon.

Happy Birthday Alice…

Alice Walker that is! Happy Birthday to the brilliant author who gave us The Colour Purple, The Temple of My Familiar, Meridian, The Chicken Chronicles and many other great literary works. She is best known for her novel “The Colour Purple” which really put her on the map, and for which she won a Pulitzer Prize. As you already know, the book was made into a beautiful Oscar nominated (11) movie.
