Toting My Own FNO…

In Charities, Daily Musings on September 10, 2012 at 7:03 pm

I just received my Fashion’s Night Out tote bag from QVC {Ordered it on Thursday}, who powered the fashionsnightout.com website for last week’s event.  I must say I am surprised that the quality is as good as it is {which it should be for $50!}.

It’s manufactured by Brahmin {pricey handbag company} from heavy-duty cotton, with really nice quality soft leather handles and side accents; not the cheap crappy stuff.

The best thing about this tote is, that the net proceeds raised from the sale of this Vogue designed bag, will benefit “Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, the charitable initiative of the CFDA Foundation, Inc.

Whistleblower For Peace…

In Charities on February 3, 2012 at 11:19 am

While conducting research for a project I am working on, I discovered Falling Whistles, which is an organization that helps to remove little boys of the Congo from militias who send them to the frontlines of war armed with only a whistle to scare off approaching enemies and their bodies serving as the only barriers for the first round of bullets.  After watching the short video on the Falling Whistles website and finding other videos on YouTube, it moved me to give my support and make a purchase.  If my donation will help 1 child in this horrifying situation it is more than worth it.  The whistles come in a variety of beautiful finishes, there is even a Swarovski crystal detailed whistle.

Please take the time to learn more about this remarkable and worthy cause at http://fallingwhistles.com.  Spread the word so we all can become a “Whistleblower For Peace!”
