Cyrano’s Kiss…

I love black and white movies, and decided to have a marathon last night, snuggled on the couch, with a bowl of kettle corn popcorn and a cocktail {or two!}. While comfortably fixed on TMC {Turner Classic Movies} “Johnny Eager” with Lana Turner and Robert Taylor came on.  In one scene, Lana Turner quotes Cyrano de Bergerac, a play, written by Edmond Rostand, which I haven’t read since high school.  I’m a bit of a romantic {the Aquarian in me}, and this quote Lana Turner’s character conveyed from memory just spoke to me:

“And what is a kiss, specifically? A pledge properly sealed, a promise seasoned to taste, a vow stamped with the immediacy of a lip, a rosy circle drawn around the verb ‘to love.’ A kiss is a message too intimate for the ear, infinity captured in the bee’s brief visit to a flower, secular communication with an aftertaste of heaven, the pulse rising from the heart to utter its name on a lover’s lip: ‘Forever.”

This beautiful quote makes me want to read the book all over again.  I found a copy on Amazon for $4.56, I think I’ll treat myself

Here’s another beauty from Cyrano, I couldn’t resist posting:

“My heart always timidly hides itself behind my mind. I set out to bring down stars from the sky, then, for fear of ridicule, I stop and pick little flowers of eloquence.”

Cyrano de Bergerac

Romance at its absolute best! Written so eloquently by Edmond Rostand.

Have a Fabulous and Beautiful Monday!
