On what is hopefully the very last snow day of 2014, I just found out that L’wren Scott was found dead of an apparent suicide. I always wonder what is going on in someone’s life, which could cause them to decide this is the only way out. My heart goes out. We are all interconnected with each other via social media, i.e., Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, etc., and most of us think everyone else’s life is going so perfectly, and we may even compare theirs to our own, because of the perfectly edited and fabulous photos we all put out on a daily basis. We really don’t know what is going on in someone’s life until it’s too late. I pray I never find out what could be so bad that I feel there is no other way out.
I myself have been surrounded by death in 2014. I have already lost two friends, so far this year, which has given me pause, to remember that today is all we have, so therefore, we must make the most of each day.
May whatever demons L’wren Scott was fighting be put to rest, and that she now rests peacefully.

Hi Darlings! For those of you in the DC metro area, I hope you’re enjoying this freaky 70+ degree weather. Unfortunately, we’re about to take another big dip in temperature, within the next couple of days, so enjoy this gorgeous weather while you can. If spring ever decides to show up, these Sugarplum booties by Jeffrey Campbell should be a definite must have.
It appears this style of bootie is all the rage for 2014, {Sarah Jessica Parker, has an open toed version, Zara also has something similar, to name a few}. I don’t really follow trends, but this is a classic that has been around for quite some time.

19 Billion… Billion with a “B”! Jan Koum made out like a bandit yesterday, don’t you think? I love his rags to riches story “Food Stamp to Billionaire” It reminds me that anything is possible in this world. As you’ve probably heard, Facebook acquired WhatsApp for a cool 19 Billion. I’m actually a user and fan of WhatsApp, as it’s a wonderful free way to keep in touch via text message with my friends and family back home in London.
WhatsApp is huge in Europe and Asia. You can send photos, videos and record messages. I’ve told a few friends about it here in the U.S. and they love it. The beautiful thing about WhatsApp is that it’s free the first year and then 99 cents per year after that.

Hello Darlings! So good old Valentine’s Day is upon us again, and even though it may be too late to order a gift for yourself or significant other to arrive tomorrow, you can still purchase these lovely paper weights from Mark and Graham. I love this store, you can buy the most lovely paper, monogrammed stationery, and desk accessories, as well as some really beautiful leather items. I love anything paper or any item that’s going to make my home office look elegant. I think these fit the bill.

Back in November, I received a nice size sample of Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense, and I have to say, I absolutely love it. After following the usual 3 steps, wash, clarifying lotion, and moisturizer (for full disclosure, I don’t use the Clinique soap anymore, as I much prefer Burt’s Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Cleansing Cream); you then apply Clinique’s Moisture Surge, by massaging it into your skin. What this product does for your skin is short of amazing, you have an instant glow, and if used at night (which I do), you wake up with your skin feeling really soft. Your skin literally drinks it in.
Since I’ve been using this product, I have definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my skin, which now feels much more hydrated and supple (and of course, drinking lots of water helps). For those of you, like me, with mature skin, this cream is a must have to add to your beauty arsenal. Buy yours here

Me! Yes Darlings, today is my birthday; I am so thankful and blessed to see another year. It has been an interesting year from 50 to 51, so many lessons learned, so much enlightenment. Many thanks to my UK family, Instagram and Facebook friends who have wished me lovely birthday blessings, I thank you all for sharing my day with me. The best gift today, was being completely snowed in here in DC, therefore, I did not have to go anywhere, so I was nice and cozy at home.
My birthday is actually my personal new year, so goals have been set, prayers have been said, and I’m looking forward to seeing what my 51st year brings. Jill Scott’s Golden video was sent to me as part of a birthday greeting, it sums up the way I’m living my life perfectly!
