Have You Had The”Girls” Checked This Year??

In Daily Chronicles, Daily Musings on October 20, 2014 at 4:45 pm

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Today I went to have my “Girls” checked out.  A yearly duty, though not pleasant (the smushing!!), is a life saving necessity! Please ladies if you have not done so yet, make that appointment to have your mammogram today.

I’ve lost two friends this year to this dreadful disease; one of them was lost due to being so consumed with her career, she had not gone for a check up in over 15 years, it took for her to suddenly fall ill, to find out she was at stage 4 and the disease had spread. Please, NEVER EVER let your job get in the way of your health.

RIP  ~ Nikkia & Susanne

I Just Had To Share…

In Daily Chronicles, Daily Musings on October 14, 2014 at 2:13 pm

Hello Darlings:

For those of you who had the pleasure of a long weekend, I hope you enjoyed it, and in the process, got yourselves some well deserved rest. This is it until Thanksgiving, so I hope you’ve recharged your batteries, and you’re raring to go.  For some of you this may be the final leg of whatever you’ve started this year, and for others it’s just the beginning.  No matter where you are in your endeavors, always remember you are on time, you are not in a race with anyone else.

As I was going through my daily peruse through Pinterest this morning, this quote popped up in my feed and really struck me.  I love all of it, but the intensity of the second paragraph summed it all up for me:

You must allow beauty to shatter you regularly...

What do you like about this quote?

Have yourselves a beautifully blessed day

A Miracle Dressed in Red…

In Beauty, Daily Musings on October 6, 2014 at 5:57 pm

L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur

I was having lunch with a friend yesterday, when she mentioned how great my skin looked. After thanking her, it wasn’t until later on that I realized I forgot to mention a fabulous new product which is now part of my make up routine.  In part, my skin is looking great  due to my coffee scrub (yet  to be named) which I have been using for the past month. Coffee has been absolutely fantastic for my face and body. My  face is definitely smoother and my pores are smaller.  The product I’ve been using is L’Oreal’s Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother.

This product is unbelievable!! It literally creates an air brushed effect on your skin.  It comes in a cream or an oil free gel, which is the one I use, due to me having a true T-Zone.  How did this all come about?  I had run out of my beloved Pore Minimizer by Clinique, and due to minor surgery, I just could not get to my local Macy’s, so off to CVS I went.  I had just seen the commercial with Eva Longoria the day before, and my interest was peaked.  Well…  I was pleasantly surprised when I gave it a try; the label touts “the 30 second miracle” and I have to admit it’s true.  My t-zone instantly disappeared, my pores were smaller, my skin literally appeared smoother before my eyes!! My make up blended  more evenly with less work, and I also applied it on top of my make up for good measure.  I must say I absolutely love it!  I got about 4 hours out of it before I needed to touch up again, which for me is fantastic, as my skin tends to shine after a while.

This little gem is on the expensive side ($25), but I had two CVS cash coupons for $5 and $2.50, (I rarely shop without coupons!) compared to $18 for my Clinique product, but I assure you a little goes a long way.   I’ve had Miracle Blur for about 2 weeks now, and I don’t think I’ve made a dent in the tube.   I also purchased it because CVS has a fantastic no questions asked return policy, and my only risk was having to take the time to return it to get my money back.

If you’re looking for a product to give you that air brushed look and take away the shine, Darlings… This is it!!

Turning Ashes Into Beauty…

In Daily Chronicles, Daily Musings on October 1, 2014 at 1:24 pm

Well Darlings:

Here we are the 10th month of the year, can you truly believe that we are staring yet another Thanksgiving and Christmas season dead in the face??  Is 2015 really 3 months away!!  Is that Swarovski Crystal ball ready to drop in Times Square for its 107th year?? This has been another interesting, difficult, challenging and sobering year for me, but yet again, lessons have been learned and I have taken note.  I didn’t have writer’s or blogger’s block, I just didn’t have quality posts to publish or interesting things to say.  For me it’s the BEST or NOTHING and I chose to do nothing while I regrouped my blog, my company and my thoughts.  Sometimes you have to let the negative things pass through before you move on to the next thing.

This time away (and huge gaps in posting) has allowed me to appreciate a lot of the other blogs here on WordPress, my fellow bloggers have a lot to say and it’s definitely required reading.  I love going into my WordPress Reader, because it has allowed me to read and see the creative expressions of others.  The one thing I’ve learned about blogging is it’s not always about me, but about what my fellow writers are thinking and doing.  I’ve learned a lot from them. They have inspired me to keep publishing.  I’ve learned that there’s a whole lot more to blogging then what I’m currently wearing.  In another post, I’ll list the blogs I’m following, maybe you can check them out too.

A particularly horrendous time in my life (which literally stunted me, mentally and emotionally) is finally over and a new me has emerged (actually still emerging!), I’m finally resurfacing as an entirely new woman, an entirely new writer, an entirely new entrepreneur.  I’m hoping you see the growth in my writings, photography and business ventures, and even if you don’t it’s OK, because I know it’s there.  There is a different thought pattern behind what I do now.  Whether, it’s a beauty, or style post, the latest technology, an interesting book or something to uplift and motivate you, this is a different writer, then the one who started blogging 2 years ago (nearly three!) a different writer who wrote earlier this year!  If we’re lucky we never stay the same, but shed the old worn out skin and emerge bigger, brighter and more colourful than we were before; hopefully life’s difficulties causes us to soar and figure out who we really are and where we truly want to be.

I’ve been blessed to have a large blog following, who have stuck with me even through my intermittent blog posts. I don’t publish numbers, a confident blogger doesn’t need to.  All that matters is I love you all for sticking with me

Thanks to my Instagram Stylistas who like and comment on my photos, Instagram has been a form of photo blogging for me, (and therapeutic!) a quick photo and a caption, not having to say too much has been perfect for this time in my life.  It has kept me in touch with quality bloggers and people who just enjoy taking photos.  Again, it has never been about the amount of followers, I certainly don’t have what would be considered a large following on Instagram, but I have quality and meaningful connections and have made fantastic business and social contacts, that mean a whole lot more to me.  To all my Selfie Queens (and Kings) out there, keep taking your selfies, if they make you happy, don’t worry about what anyone has to say about you flooding your feed with photos of you, it’s YOUR FEED…  Do You!

One thing I know for sure is God has turned ‘ashes’ into ‘beauty’ many times in my life, and he is turning what was meant for ashes into beauty as I speak!

Love, Light & Blessings

September, September…

In Daily Chronicles, Daily Musings on September 1, 2014 at 8:47 pm

Wow Darlings, can you believe it’s September?? Where did the summer go? Where did the time go? I feel like everything is moving at warp speed; you can’t even make plans, because before you know it, in the blink of an eye, time has flown by and if you’re not careful, you’re standing where you were in January.

I hope you’ve been able to accomplish whatever it is you’ve set out to do so far, and if you haven’t, don’t be hard on yourselves, starting today is soon enough.  For me, one chapter of my life has finally closed and it’s an exhilarating time, new beginnings are here and I’m so looking forward to the future.  I’ve got lots in store, and I’m truly excited about things to come, but this time, I’d rather show then tell! It’s time to go BRAND NEW!

Whatever you do, be good to yourselves, and remember…

Coffee Scrub & Me…

In Weekend Chronicles on August 10, 2014 at 5:23 pm

Coffee Scrub

I’ve been seeing a lot of coffee scrubs around the internet, especially on Instagram, the prices have ranged from $18 – $35 and a coffee scrub body-wrap can cost $100 and up if you go to a spa! Because I have an entrepreneurial spirit, I started thinking; how about I create my own (light bulb moment!)  I won’t mention the 2 most popular brands floating around on Instagram here, because I’m sure you already know who they are.  After a little research, and the gathering of  organic ingredients, I made my own batch and coaxed some dependable and quite eager associates to be my test cases (trust me they did not need much coaxing!).  After rave reviews, it turns out I just may have a really good thing here.

As you may know, caffeine, is excellent to reduce the appearance of cellulite and the other ingredients are fantastic for obtaining baby soft skin.

I’ve made a few batches and they’ve turned out really well.  I’m going to experiment with different ingredients, but I’m pleased to say that I already have pre-orders, and I’m not even up and running yet!

Here’s a batch I created for my personal use, stored in my lovely “Liberty for Target” glass, which once held one of their gorgeously scented candles. {I wish Target would release another “Liberty for Target” line}.

Stay tuned, there just might be a giveaway in the near future!

Wishing you an Amazing and Beautifully Blessed week.

Hello Darlings!

In honour of National Lipstick Day 2014, I had to post one of my absolute favourites, which I have posted here before.  I absolutely love Tom Ford’s Cherry Lush, which is my all time favourite red to wear, when I’m in the mood.

Touch by MAC Cosmetics, lipstick, Maylana's Closet, #maylanascloset, #maccosmetics

Another favourite colour of mine is Laura Mercier’s Dusk, which just this second, I’ve found out has been discontinued!! I’ve found it on Fragrance.net (click link above).  I must have it! Dusk was the perfect pink, with a mauve hue, when you just needed a little something.  I normally layer this colour with Touch (above) by MAC which is also one of my go to nudes.

Whatever colour you decide to wear, pucker up, wear it confidently, and be the amazing Sylista you truly are.

What’s Your Passion?

I came across this Joss Whedon quote this morning, and found it absolutely fitting, it really spoke to me, so I’m sharing it with you, to give you a motivational food for thought.

Quote - Joss Whedon
