I am so in love with June Ambrose’s Edna Frames. The super stylist to the stars has launched her sophomore collection of yet another crowd stopping, “where did you get those fabulous shades“; in collaboration with Selima Optique, the trend setting luxury eye-wear brand. Nothing says “I’m super gorgeous”, than big statement frames. These will definitely be going on my wish list, and staying on my radar, as it’s time to give my beloved Prada’s a rest, and start searching for a worthy replacement for summer 2014.
Available online at Selima Optique. in Black, Blond Horn (shown) and Blue Crystal.

As I was cruising and dreaming through the Saks Fifth Avenue website, I came across these gorgeous Louboutin booties. This is one of the things you do when on hiatus, dream of beautiful things for Autumn/Winter 2013. Click on the image to be taken to the Saks website, to view more of this gorgeous item.

I’d love it if you clicked the “Like” button if you do stop by my Facebook page.

Hi darlings, it’s an absolutely beautiful day, with an amazingly blue sky, and not a cloud to be found. After 3 days of dark heavy clouds and the pitter patter of rain, it was a relief to wake up this morning, to see sunlight streaming through my living room. I have a small crystal ball hanging in the window, so I was welcomed to a glorious rainbow spectrum, swirling around the room… Lovely!
The photo above, of the Zara shoes, I mentioned in last week’s post, “Zara Spring Things” was taken by the lovely Evy, who is one of my favourite Instagram friends, and also a very new blogger over at FashionistaOver40. Evy has the most amazing and elegant style, with a fashion stylist eye for detail, and is also a true shopaholic like myself. Please take some time to stop by her blog, and show her some blogger love.
We’re half way to the weekend, and the weather is supposed to hold up between now and then, we’ll see! Wishing you the most Fabulous Wednesday.

After posting these photos on Instagram, I was asked to post the recipe to my blog. I’m on day 3 of a 10 day juicing and all veggie diet {I don’t really like the word diet, but you know what I mean}, and I must say, so far so good. 🙂 I’m drinking approximately 10 ounces every 2 to 3 hours with water in between, this way there’s no time to feel hungry.
Ingredients:
- Apple
- Banana
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Spinach
- Flaxseed
- Almond Milk

This one is basically the same, but instead the ingredients are:
- Mango
- Kiwi
- Banana
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Flaxseed
- Almond milk
A friend of mine {who is on this smoothie journey with me} created a delicious concoction in her Vitamix this morning {I never realized how expensive these were, but definitely worth it}. It was a very dark green, but truly delicious! Sorry I don’t have a photo.
Ingredients were:
- Spirulina
- Pea Protein
- Banana
- Blueberries
- Chai Seeds
- Almond Milk
There are so many variations on these green and fruit smoothies. I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments section, so that I can switch things up a bit.
Wishing you a very Healthy, Happy and Amazing Wednesday!

On Sunday, the most amazing afro caught my eye, and that’s how I met the most unique and extraordinary woman by the name of Makkah, who is the owner of Revolution Vintage in Baltimore.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was in Baltimore, and happened to stumble upon this charming little boutique. While there, Makkah and I struck up a lovely conversation, whereby, I purchased what I thought was one of the most beautiful vintage coats. Makkah offered me the most wonderful deal, once I told her I was a blogger, which I could not pass up, so wonderful in fact, I dare not tell you how much!
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
The best way to describe Makkah’s boutique, is it’s a delightful bazaar of unusual and eclectic finds; like a Magpies’ nest of colourful and shiny things, you don’t know what you should look at first. A hodge podge mix of vintage dresses, coats and scarves hung on coat racks and laid across old fashion sofas, fabulous accessories spilled on a dresser for good measure. As you can see, Makkah herself is a stunning vision of colours, and creativity, exuding the most artistic of auras. I found her when the market was nearly closing, because I’m sure I could have spent half the day with her if I had found her earlier.
You can find the lovely Makkah on Instagram @revolutionvintage, where she has some of the most amazing photos, or if you’re in the area, visit her boutique at the Patapsco Indoor Flea Market in Baltimore. It’s so worth it!

Wearing a vintage beaded scarf I picked up for $4!!
Also wearing earrings from the Maylana’s Closet “Touch of India Collection” coming soon.
Hello fabulous people. This morning truly looked like spring had finally sprung! After a gorgeous Saturday, a grey and dreary Sunday, today truly is starting out to be absolutely gorgeous. Can we finally exhale our collective breaths that spring has arrived?

I had a terrific weekend, I went scouting for vintage finds, at one of my favourite spots in Maryland, and came across a few goodies. I found this gorgeous brand new sequined French Connection dress, with tags, which retailed last season for $248, selling for under $100,!!! Alas, it was not in the Maylana’s Closet budget!

I also found this gorgeous Liz Claiborne ankle length coat dress for under $5!! I have not been a fan of Liz Claiborne for a number of years now, but this dress was too fantastic to resist. I’m going to wear this unbuttoned up to the thigh with shorts underneath, cinched at the waist with ankle strap flats or high heels depending on my mood, and then paired with a colourful clutch. Very 50’s.
Those of you who follow my blog, know I love Instagram {as well as Pinterest!}; here are some of my weekend images. If you’d like to follow me on IG, you can find me @Maylana.

While going through my Instagram feed, I discovered the lovely boutique Shoxie! When I saw this wrap maxi dress I was completely bowled over. At $125.00, I think it’s a steal in order to look gorgeous, for the upcoming summer affairs, where you want to look simple, yet elegant, and very nicely put together, without too much fuss. I’ve got my eye on either of the black and white striped dresses myself, or maybe the coral… decisions, decisions.
How would I wear? Sky high wedges and a neon clutch (post coming soon); topped off with my Tom Ford red lipstick in Cherry Lush, and I’m good to go 🙂
Make your way to their lovely online boutique here or click on the dresses above to be taken right to them!

Well Dahhlings, another Monday is upon us. I hope you enjoyed your weekend and also Fashion Night Out on Thursday. I saw no reason to do a major blog post on FNO as every “fashion” blog in the blogosphere was writing about it.

Happy Labor Day to you Dahhlings! I hope you are enjoying your much deserved day off. For most of us, this is the last holiday until Thanksgiving {not many get Columbus or Veterans Day, unless you work for the Government}, so enjoy it!
Well as you can see from above, this is my 200th post and I’m quite proud of myself. Blogging has been fantastic for me and to me; therefore, I’ve decided to dedicate this post to say Thank You! Blogging has allowed me to meet the most wonderful people on WordPress and other sites such as Twitter, BlogTrends and Instagram, to name a few. I’ve been embraced by bloggers of all genres, large and small, and I appreciate it.
The blogging community as a whole, is like one big creative family constantly supporting each other; I’m happy to be a part of it. So once again, I’d love to thank you all for following and reading my posts, and I look forward to writing another 200, plus many more in the coming future.

This would be a cool bed to watch all the marathon TV shows, which are being shown today ~ I’m an NCIS fan myself!

Men In Kilts for the Ronald McDonald House Charities
The designer Trina Turk is now following me on Instagram and I promised I’d post this pic of her brother Carter, who is wearing a kilt for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) event, “Men In Kilts“. I actually think he looks quite dashing in his kilt while straddling a motorcycle! Men in Kilts is an important element to McDazzle 2012, which is a red tie event to be held in Kentucky in September.
The premise of the fund-raising event is simple: Go to any of the participating websites, view the kilted contestants and vote for your favorite. The $25 fee per vote sponsors one night of housing for a family at Ronald McDonald House. I haven’t seen anything for the DC area yet, but here is the link for Seattle. http://www.rmhcseattle.org/content/men-kilts and also for Michigan http://www.rmhcmichiana.org/ I’ll keep you posted if and when the District posts a link.
As you may know, the Ronald McDonald House Charities provides the comfort of home for the families of extremely ill children who are receiving treatment at a specialized hospital which is always in close proximity to the RMHC residence. There is no cost to the families.
In my past occupation, I was the project manager for organizing the RMHC “Dinners for Families” which was part of the company’s “Volunteers for Life” yearly charity event. The Ronald McDonald House was one of our favourites to work with. We would purchase all the groceries and then proceed to cook dinner for 10 families in their huge kitchens on site. I really enjoyed it and hope to organize my own event with some friends who live locally. This is a program that all RMCH’s across the country participate in.
