British Soul…

In Daily Chronicles, Daily Musings on April 9, 2014 at 5:11 pm

Laura Mvula As I was perusing Instagram, I noticed that one of my Instafriends, LoveMrs, posted a photo of her post work out song by a British singer named Laura Mvula.  I was immediately intrigued, mostly because of the photograph and her hair. After a little research I found out that this young lady has been around for a little while, and was also nominated for two Brit Awards, where have I been??  Ms. Mvula, a native of Birmingham, England, trained at the city’s Conservatoire, which provides professional musician training, for orchestral, jazz and opera performers. Off to iTunes I went, where her album, “Singing To The Moon” was available for $7.99.  Her album is very eclectic, with a mix of  pop, jazz and creative soul.  I’m loving the video for Green Garden.  Her voice reminds me a little of the lovely Amy Winehouse, who passed away much too soon.  You also hear touches of Nina Simone on “Is There Anybody Out There?”   Listen to her voice on Make Me LovelyThis song took my breath away, with it’s sweeping strings and horns… Beautiful!  I hear a little bit of Bjork there.  I’m also loving Like The Morning DewGreen Garden, and Diamonds, actually the whole album!!!. This really is an incredible album. Visit Ms. Mvula’s website for more beautiful photos, news and music, click here Sing To The Moon is available at iTunes and Amazon. You can also listen to the whole album here Thank you Instagram for always inspiring me.

Solange’s New Musique…

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on September 7, 2012 at 6:50 am

I’m loving this still photo from Solange’s latest music video for her upcoming single “Losing You“, which was shot in a township in South Africa.  Local young men dressed in some rather dapper fashions are one of the highlights of the video.

Solange was inspired to shoot her video in South Africa because of the color in the architecture, the townships and the people.  The new single has been described as “eclectic with ’80s references and African percussion influences.

I’ve always preferred Solange, I relate more to her sense of style, and I feel she’s someone I could really hang out with to shoot the breeze and talk about real style!

I’m looking forward to seeing the concept, the styling, and hearing the music from Solange’s new project.

I love this photo of Solange and her son in the colours splashed bedroom of her Brooklyn apartment, featured in the September issue of Elle Magazine

Have yourselves a Relaxing, Amazing and Extraordinary weekend!
