Hello fabulous people. This morning truly looked like spring had finally sprung! After a gorgeous Saturday, a grey and dreary Sunday, today truly is starting out to be absolutely gorgeous. Can we finally exhale our collective breaths that spring has arrived?
I had a terrific weekend, I went scouting for vintage finds, at one of my favourite spots in Maryland, and came across a few goodies. I found this gorgeous brand new sequined French Connection dress, with tags, which retailed last season for $248, selling for under $100,!!! Alas, it was not in the Maylana’s Closet budget!
I also found this gorgeous Liz Claiborne ankle length coat dress for under $5!! I have not been a fan of Liz Claiborne for a number of years now, but this dress was too fantastic to resist. I’m going to wear this unbuttoned up to the thigh with shorts underneath, cinched at the waist with ankle strap flats or high heels depending on my mood, and then paired with a colourful clutch. Very 50’s.

Well today is the official first day of spring. With temperatures in the high 40’s low 50’s (plus overnight frost) it certainly does not feel like it. The most important thing is, it’s officially here, which means we have lovely warm weather and blue skies to look forward to.
With thoughts of spring in the air, I thought this lovely floral dress by Haute Hippie at PiperLime.com was a good representation of the weather to come. It’s a little on the expensive side at $565! but I’m sure you can find something very similar at H&M, Zara or any of the other major chain stores. While going through my Instagram feed, I discovered the lovely boutique Shoxie! When I saw this wrap maxi dress I was completely bowled over. At $125.00, I think it’s a steal in order to look gorgeous, for the upcoming summer affairs, where you want to look simple, yet elegant, and very nicely put together, without too much fuss. I’ve got my eye on either of the black and white striped dresses myself, or maybe the coral… decisions, decisions.
How would I wear? Sky high wedges and a neon clutch (post coming soon); topped off with my Tom Ford red lipstick in Cherry Lush, and I’m good to go 🙂

It is truly a chilly day here in Washington, DC, but the sun is shining brightly, and all is right with the world. I hope you’re having an amazing day and that your day is being productive and successful. My posts have been a little sparse lately because I’ve got so much on my plate, but I promise to start getting my thrice weekly posts back on track.
Speaking of chilly weather, I’m in love with these Calvin Klein boots from his A/W 2013 collection. These are the boots to wear when you’re not in the mood for your 4″ wonders, and need to move about town quickly! I love the square-toed platform and 2″ stacked heel. These are a pair to watch.

Hi Dahhlings! It truly has been a very busy last few days, so busy, that I never got a chance to write my last-minute shopping guide among other blog projects. The collage above should explain why I’ve been MIA! It’s been a pleasant problem to have, I truly enjoy creating elegant items for my customers, and this time of year is especially busy.
I hope you’ve gotten all of your gifts, decorations, delicious food and all the other important goodies for the big day. 2 days to go!!!
If you haven’t gotten your gifts yet {tommorow is Christmas Eve!} I suggest you take yourselves to the nearest supermarket or drug store, and buy some of those well-known gift cards! Itunes, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn, anyone?

It’s Sunday, and its been a really good day both professionally and personally. I’ve accomplished quite a lot today! I hope your Sunday has been as wonderful as mine. I’ve managed to complete 4 of my infamous crochet flower hats, made some sales, taken new photos for my Etsy store; and with my sister, we’ve managed to dream up even more fabulous ideas for our business. It’s great when you have a business partner, who’s on the same page as you, and then constantly brings added fabulousness and creativity every time! Love you SIS!
The hat above {originally called the Penelope hat}, is a staple of the Maylana’s Closet collection. The quote above, is quite fitting, because creating these hats is definitely one of the things my future self, will thank me for! In a future post I’ll tell you how the Maylana’s Closet crochet hats got started, it’s a story near and dear to me… Stay tuned!! Well Dahhlings, it’s finally here! The legendary partnership between Target and Neiman Marcus. What do I think? Well I logged on at 6:30 a.m. this morning looking to be completely wowed and I WASN’T. Everything just looked a little blah and inexpensive, I was going to use the word cheap, but decided to be nice! Now before you start screaming, remember this is just my personal opinion. Yes I know it’s Target (which I love, who doesn’t?), but the collab between them and Liberty of London is still my overall favourite, and nothing has really compared, except the Missoni duvet set, sheets and shower curtain {which I sadly didn’t get}.
The Target website seemed pretty limited, so I’m sure there is so much more in the stores. I did see some nice things in the lookbook which did not appear online, so again maybe you just have to go to the store.
The only items which caught my eye, were the Carolina Herrera stationary set, the Brian Atwood leather gloves and the Alice + Olivia bike at $499. Also, I really liked the Tracy Reese blouse and ceramic plates. I did order the stationary set for myself and my sister because we both love paper {I still might order the Tracy Reese plates}. I thought about the Brian Atwood gloves long and hard, but again, I just wasn’t moved by them. If they’re still around and I see them in person (which I doubt), and the quality is nice, I might cave in. If you find items you love in the collection, or just your thoughts about it, let me know.
