♥ Love & Light Darlings ♥
It’s been a busy day, so today’s post is going to be short and sweet. Aren’t the Jimmy Choo shoes above just simply gorgeous!! Spring has truly sprung with these beauties. Also the photography is whimsical and beautiful; I imagine an updated and rather stylish Alice falling down the rabbit hole in “Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland“.
I’m also in love with the silver Tom Ford Sandals below, they’ll be added to the “Maylana’s Dream List“, which I haven’t created in quite some time. Look out for new dream list items soon.
I’m on a major health kick right now, and I wanted to share this refreshing detox beverage, which I like to drink often. It’s very simple, lemons, cucumbers and mint! Click on the image to be taken to the lovely “The Denver Housewife” blog; who has more recipe details, and who posted this beautiful bottle on Pinterest.
I want to wish you a Fabulous Friday and a Fantastic and Inspired weekend.

After posting these photos on Instagram, I was asked to post the recipe to my blog. I’m on day 3 of a 10 day juicing and all veggie diet {I don’t really like the word diet, but you know what I mean}, and I must say, so far so good. 🙂 I’m drinking approximately 10 ounces every 2 to 3 hours with water in between, this way there’s no time to feel hungry.
Ingredients:
This one is basically the same, but instead the ingredients are:
A friend of mine {who is on this smoothie journey with me} created a delicious concoction in her Vitamix this morning {I never realized how expensive these were, but definitely worth it}. It was a very dark green, but truly delicious! Sorry I don’t have a photo.
Ingredients were:
There are so many variations on these green and fruit smoothies. I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments section, so that I can switch things up a bit.
Wishing you a very Healthy, Happy and Amazing Wednesday!
Hello Darlings! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend as I did. You’ll be happy to know that the Maylana’s Closet Blog Shop is finally open! Right now the bangles shown above from my “Touch of India Collection” are available for purchase; there are also a pair of exquisite earrings {seen in 3rd pic below, 5 sets available) also for purchase. There will be more eclectic and beautiful items coming to the Blog Shop very soon. Click on the link above, and let me know what you think. Please bear in mind, it’s still a work in progress.
Part of my weekend was spent pampering myself, so I decided to give myself a pedicure. Color used was Estee Lauder Béte Noire ,{dark purple} with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top coat. {Sandals are by Zara, circa 2009} Ladies, pampering yourselves on a regular basis, is conducive to your well-being, it’s a must!♥
I plan to invest in a tripod very soon, so that I can start taking full length self portraits with my Canon T3i; I realize fully now, that as a blogger, a tripod is your best friend! In the meantime my trusty iPhone is going to have to do. Here’s a peek of what I’m wearing today.
On Saturday I decided to represent my 1st adopted home, New York!!! It was where I lived, my first 15 years in the U.S. I truly miss living there, there is nothing else like NYC! {click on the link, to hear my favourite New York song}. So with a pair of scissors, I slashed the neck of this tee-shirt, and I was on my way; having my own personal New York minute. I hope to take a trip there soon, great blogging material there.
I did not get a chance to participate in the Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday {I found 1000 other things I needed to do}, but I’m still hoping to bring you some gorgeous photos at a later date.
To round things out, I found this quote on Pinterest and simply love it…
Have yourselves the most fabulous Monday; make sure that YOU make it Amazing!
Wow! This is my 300th post! I can’t believe that I’ve actually written 300 articles in the 13 months since I started this blog. I probably would have reached this number a lot sooner, but there were times I was only writing once maybe twice per week due to a busy schedule, and all the other things life can throw at you sometimes, but nevertheless, I’m still here and loving it.♥ As a treat, here are 20 things you don’t know about me {unless you know me personally} in no particular order.
So there you go, 20 things of no real importance, but they make up fabulous me!
THANK YOU so much for following and reading my posts, it really means a lot to me, and THANK YOU for your lovely comments. I’m looking forward to writing another 300 and beyond… See you there!
I think I’ll treat myself to some chocolate drizzled popcorn!
On the way to Frozen-Yo, I saw this beauty parked outside. I’d love to take a spin, wearing a gorgeous Hermes scarf, worn exactly like the picture below; blowing elegantly in the breeze. Simply the perfect car {and perfect colour} for this gorgeous weather we’re having. Thank goodness, it’s a little cooler today at 85 degrees {we reached a whopping 91 yesterday}.♥

While going through past posts, I decided today would be archive day. Here is a post which was originally published in March of 2012 {with minor formatting changes}. When I look back on my past posts, I see how far I’ve come with my writing, and if I do say so, I’m quite proud of myself 🙂 Don’t you feel the same about your own writing?
If I’m in the mood, I might post another from the archives… So stay tuned! Happy Thursday Darlings, we’re nearly there.♥
I’ve decided upon Bvlgari Mon Jasmine Noir. This is truly a beautiful fragrance which is already a classic for me. This is the lighter version to the much heavier and in my opinion pungent Jasmine Noir, which reminds me too much of Opium by Yves Saint Laurent {remember that one ladies?}.
I’ve been a fan of Bvlgari fragrances for some time, especially the Bvlgari Rose Essentielle. Mon Jasmine Noir has top notes of golden citron and floral lily of the valley with of course the elegant Jasmine. Sprayed lightly (very important, you don’t want everyone in the elevator to pass out!) you can have yourself a daily “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” moment. Treat yourself! Available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks.

Degrees that is! Can you believe it’s 90 degrees in DC!! Just last week we were at 45, then we had that gorgeous weekend in the 60’s and now since Monday we’ve been in the 80’s. There’s been no time to prepare, you go to bed with the heat on and wake up and suddenly you need to turn on your ceiling fan or A/C. Does anyone believe in Global Warming?
Last week I became a Lucky Magazine contributor, {see badge at bottom of page} and I received this response from the team at Vince Camuto regarding the blog post I wrote a couple of weeks ago, on these gorgeous blue sandals.
I’d say it made my day! If you’re interested in becoming a contributor, click here and it’ll take you to their community page. Good luck! ♥
If you’d like to follow me on Twitter, click on the birdie and I’ll follow you back. See you there!
In the meantime, I’m going to see if I should start pulling out my summer things, or is this a joint hoax between mother nature and that silly groundhog!
On Sunday, the most amazing afro caught my eye, and that’s how I met the most unique and extraordinary woman by the name of Makkah, who is the owner of Revolution Vintage in Baltimore.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was in Baltimore, and happened to stumble upon this charming little boutique. While there, Makkah and I struck up a lovely conversation, whereby, I purchased what I thought was one of the most beautiful vintage coats. Makkah offered me the most wonderful deal, once I told her I was a blogger, which I could not pass up, so wonderful in fact, I dare not tell you how much!
The best way to describe Makkah’s boutique, is it’s a delightful bazaar of unusual and eclectic finds; like a Magpies’ nest of colourful and shiny things, you don’t know what you should look at first. A hodge podge mix of vintage dresses, coats and scarves hung on coat racks and laid across old fashion sofas, fabulous accessories spilled on a dresser for good measure. As you can see, Makkah herself is a stunning vision of colours, and creativity, exuding the most artistic of auras. I found her when the market was nearly closing, because I’m sure I could have spent half the day with her if I had found her earlier.
You can find the lovely Makkah on Instagram @revolutionvintage, where she has some of the most amazing photos, or if you’re in the area, visit her boutique at the Patapsco Indoor Flea Market in Baltimore. It’s so worth it!
