Black History Sirens…

In Daily Musings on February 13, 2012 at 1:21 pm

In honour of Black History Month, I will be posting images of beautiful black women, who have graced the stage, screen, catwalk and other media.  I think it’s important to show these images, because for the most part Black Women are not always portrayed in the most positive light .  We are beautiful and proud.  Most of us do have class.  Remember That!  Here’s the beginning… Enjoy!

I’m Going Naked 2…

In New Loves! on February 2, 2012 at 9:49 am

No I’m not going that naked!! But Naked 2 by Urban Decay. It’s one of the best and hottest eyeshadow palettes… EVER!  This has been the most anticipated sequel to the original Naked Palette, the stores could barely keep it on the shelves, when the original came out, and can you believe there was a waitlist for this one!  With the Naked palettes you can literally create hundreds of beautiful eyeshadow combinations, you can mix them, use each on its own, do whatever your creative heart desires.  Well I’ve finally got mine and I’m very happy. If you’re anything like me, treating yourself is always a happy occasion, worthy of a celebration.  The original Naked consisted of 12 neutral shades which included colours to create the smokey eye look.  The new palette consists of 12 Taupes and what they are calling “Greige” neutrals. I also love the names of the colours, Booty Call, Tease, Suspect, you get the drift.  Urban Decay has done it again!  Beautiful colours and  beautiful packaging.  Available For $50.00 at www.urbandecay.com , Sephora and other stores. Go get yours!!

Beautiful Colours!

Loving Carol’s Daughter…

In New Loves! on January 31, 2012 at 10:51 am

Ladies, hopefully you are pampering yourselves on a daily basis because you are well deserving.  A product I’ve been using for years is the Carol’s Daughter range of body products.  I remember visiting Carol’s Daughter when Lisa Price had a tiny store on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn (well before the gentrification).  A good friend and I used to make the trek from Long Island to Brooklyn, just to buy her products.  At the time I had locs and used to use her Loc Butter religiously.  I’m proud of Lisa in what she has achieved, from making the products in her kitchen to now being a major player in the beauty arena.  For me as a small business women, she is a good example of what you can accomplish with hard work and determination and showing me, it can be done!  My favourite body treats right now is the Goddess Flower Shea Souffle, just the name alone, makes you feel like royalty (which you are!).  This product is a rich concoction of coconut and grapeseed oils, with Vitamin E thrown in for good measure. I also like the Ecstasy Body Butter and the Sugar-Dipped Vanilla Body Cream, which are both pretty luxurious!  I promise you’ll  fall in love.  http://www.carolsdaughter.com/

My Fragrance For 2012 Is…

In New Loves! on January 24, 2012 at 3:03 pm

I’ve decided upon Bvlgari Mon Jasmine Noir.  This is truly a beautiful fragrance which is already a classic for me.  This is the lighter version to the much heavier and in my opinion pungent Jasmine Noir, which reminds me too much of Opium by Yves Saint Laurent (remember that one ladies?) I’ve been a fan of Bvlgari fragrances for some time, especially the Bvlgari Rose Essentielle.  Mon Jasmine Noir has top notes of golden citron and floral lily of the valley with of course the elegant Jasmine. Sprayed lightly (very important, you don’t want everyone in the elevator to pass out) you can have yourself a daily “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” moment. Treat yourself! Available at Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Saks
