Be so busy loving your life, you have no time for hate, regret or fear

{From The Archives} 10 Things…

In Daily Musings on May 18, 2012 at 9:17 am

This is a post I wrote back in May.  It’s very timely for me at the moment and I hope it is for you too.  It’s just a gentle reminder that we must always take care of ourselve. “Life Is A Song Worth Singing” This is the title from one of my favourite Teddy Pendergrass albums.  Life truly is worth singing!

Happy Sunday to you… Mwah 🙂

It’s Friday!!!! Time to kick up your heels, and celebrate the weekend.

Here are a 10 things you should do for yourself this weekend.  Pick a few or better yet do them all. You’ve got 2 days!!

  1. Buy yourself some flowers or an orchid plant
  2. Treat yourself to a mani/pedi and if it’s not in the budget do it yourself.
  3. Give yourself a facial, your skin will love you for it. (click link for homemade recipe)
  4. Treat yourself to a quality glass of wine or better yet champagne and if you don’t drink pour some sparkling cider in your best champagne flute and toast yourself for being such a fantastic person.
  5. Go to Barnes & Noble or any bookstore and treat yourself to a good book; here’s one for you, Roots of Style” by Isabel Toledo
  6. Take a walk.  Just walk around the neighbourhood.  2 things will happen here; (a) you’ll get some exercise and (b) you may just notice something you never noticed before.  If you live in a boring neighbourhood, drive/walk somewhere, where there’s scenery and walk there (no excuses).
  7. Buy or download the Anthony Hamilton cd “Back to Love” you’ll be glad you did.
  8. Buy or download the new Estelle cd, “All of Me“, you’ll be glad you did that too.
  9. Instead of having breakfast at home on Sunday, get dressed, find somewhere cute and go out for brunch, let someone else cook for a change
  10. Sunday night take a luxurious bubble bath, with your glass of champagne/sparkling cider, and the book you bought, then relax and think about how wonderful you are, and how much you’re looking forward to the brilliant and blessed week ahead of you.

Have a fabulous weekend Chicas!

  1. Hi my friend, what a wonderful 10 things article and I love the photograph with it too. Sad to hear about Donna Summer, my favourite track was ‘bad girls’, I think as you get older you wonder about what you will leave behind and she has left us with recordings of her amazing voice and the memories made when listening to them, I ramble but I’d be proud to leave such a gift, love Ann x

    • Hi Ann:

I totally agree with you. You’re right, I too also wonder what I’ll leave behind. Donna Summer did have an amazing voice and we’ll always remember that. I hope you do at least 5 of the 10 things. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂

  2. I’ve been seeing some lovely orchids out and about. A nice flower does brighten up a space.

    • I really hope you bought yourself one. You can get them for under $20 at Home Depot, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods among other places. They’ll last you from 3-6 months. Well worth it!

  3. Just getting around to reading this and happy to say I did at least 2 of the things listed…LOL. Thank you Lana for helping me to remember it’s okay to think of ‘me’ from time to time..
