Goodbye Whitney…
In Daily Musings on February 18, 2012 at 9:51 pmLike most of the world, I watched Whitney Houston’s dignified and spiritual funeral service held in Newark, NJ today. The comments and performances were absolutely beautiful and from the heart. The person who was noticeably missing from the service was Aretha Franklin, it would be interesting to know why she did not attend. I will not speculate. Chaka Khan was also absent, Chaka was very close to Whitney. The moment where I choked up was when the 6 pallbearers lifted Whitney’s beautiful gleaming casket up on their shoulders; when the light hit the casket, for me that was the moment it was final.
Kevin Costner‘s eulogy was very thoughtful, beautiful, and enlightening with a little humour thrown in. Who knew he and Whitney had so much in common? If we believed the rumours that came out during the filming of “The Bodyguard” we would not have thought so. The lesson here, do not listen to gossip. Tyler Perry became a pastor for a few minutes. The Winans Family, boy do they roll deep… There is a lot of them! Talent is embedded in their DNA.
Once again I wish Whitney, Godspeed and God’s light. I know she has been well received in heaven and is right now been giving a glorious homecoming by Amy, Luther, Michael, Phoebe, Teddy, Etta, Marvin, Isaac, Gerald and so many others too numerous to mention. Biggie, Tupac and Heavy D will be throwing down some rhymes (clean) for her; with Mr. Don Cornelius as the gracious host. They’re having a party up there. Whitney’s in good company.
Rest In Peace, Ms. Whitney Elizabeth Houston.
Do You Have Your Rocks???
In Daily Musings on February 16, 2012 at 10:18 amTsion Rocks that is! Tsion (pronounced Zion) Rocks is a line of semi-precious beaded jewelry created by renowned artist Ms. Yvette Crocker. She calls them wearable art and yes they are! Tsion Rocks has taken off like wildfire. Yvette decided to put her beautiful art, which she paints on wood on hiatus, while she channeled some of her other artistic abilities. To see her art pieces, pay a visit to her online gallery @ www.yvettecrocker.com
From her first bracelet, Yvette started a stampede on Facebook, with everyone from DC, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta and everywhere in between and beyond, wanting to purchase their own rocks. If you blink, you’ll miss them! Tsion Rocks Bracelets and necklaces (there are earrings too) are made up of Amethyst, Turquoise, Coral, Onyx, Pink Agate, the list of crystals and stones she uses goes on and on. Yvette sources the most unusual beads from all over the world. Ms. Crocker also has a bespoke line, where she uses real diamond beads to create her luxury items, and what beautiful luxuries they are! Yvette likes to take high-end vintage pieces, pull them apart and then create a one of a kind statement piece mixed in with her crystal beads. Is this woman an artist or what!
Tsion Rocks bracelets and necklaces are worn by multi-platinum artists such as Kanye West, Raheem DeVaugh, among many others. Sports stars such as Vernon Davis and Patrick Willis are flocking to Tsion Rocks; buying in multiples because they can’t get enough. Many from the entertainment and sports elite are rushing to get their own pieces.
The crème de la crème was when Tsion Rocks bracelets were presented as a gift to our First Lady of The United States, Michelle Obama, which also included a bracelet for each of her daughters. For me that was Yvette’s shining moment. When the wife of the President is wearing your jewelry you have arrived! Especially the wife of this President! Even her gift packaging smacks of class. Your item is placed in a velvet pouch and an exquisite tin box which is then wrapped up with a gorgeous grosgrain bow.
Get yours!

Black History Sirens II…

A Diva’s Valentine Theme…
In Daily Musings on February 14, 2012 at 9:39 amI dedicate to all of you single Divas out there, this Valentine’s Day as the official “Treat Your Inner Diva Day“. whether it’s a mani/pedi, new lingerie, a gorgeous scented candle, a bottle of bubbly or all of the above, celebrate YOU! Don’t let the commercialization of this “pretend” holiday, make you feel less than you are. Today is a day where some women, may feel a little down because they don’t have anyone “special” in their lives or are looking to someone to make them feel special today and then start an argument when they don’t deliver. DON’T!
Don’t wait for someone else to make you feel worthy, make yourself feel special because you are! You’re A Diva! Leave your office/cubicle right now, go to Starbucks and buy that Venti White Chocolate Latte, you never buy because you’re on a never-ending diet, trust me you’ll feel good!
Celebrate your fabulousness, celebrate YOU! Buy yourself some flowers (although exorbitantly overpriced), better yet buy them tomorrow where they’ll be back to normal prices and everyone one is kicking themselves for buying a dozen roses for $100 and you only paid $25 at Whole Foods (plus theirs would have started wilting)! Take a bath, add something nice to it, put on your high heels and something floaty, pour a glass of bubbly, order some take-out, then cue the music (I’m feeling Bruno Mars right now, don’t play anything too sentimental, depression is not the goal here, how about “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan?). Perch yourself delicately on your sofa, cross your legs and be fabulous in your own living room. Celebrate the Wonderful, Gorgeous ,God Given YOU!
If you have some girlfriends who are also unattached, get a group together and go and have a cocktail somewhere, make as much noise as possible to interrupt the so-called smoochy lovers (I do not usually advocate being loud, but hey it’s Valentines day, just don’t blame me if you get thrown out!). Whatever you do, DO NOT sit around feeling sorry for yourself, it’s a commercial holiday, get over it. The special person in your life is YOU! And if you do have someone significant, cherish that person every single day, not just today, because you want a gift and a nice meal, so you can brag about it tomorrow. Make every day in your relationship a beautiful day, make every day about Love.
Here’s something cute from Google – https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en
Dahhlings… Always Remember, You Are Special!
Here’s a recipe for one of my favourite cocktails, called a Kir Royale – a cocktail fit for a Queen… Enjoy!
Champagne * Chambord Liqueur (or if your strapped for cash try Mr. Boston Raspberry liqueur, $6) * Raspberries, Champagne Flute
Place a Champagne flute in the freezer for 15 minutes. Remove and add 1 tablespoon Chambord to each flute and a few raspberries. Fill each flute to the top with Champagne and serve immediately – Cheers!
Happy Valentines day!
Smooches!

Black History Sirens…
In Daily Musings on February 13, 2012 at 1:21 pmIn honour of Black History Month, I will be posting images of beautiful black women, who have graced the stage, screen, catwalk and other media. I think it’s important to show these images, because for the most part Black Women are not always portrayed in the most positive light . We are beautiful and proud. Most of us do have class. Remember That! Here’s the beginning… Enjoy!

A Star No Longer Shines…
In Daily Musings on February 11, 2012 at 9:28 pmMy sister informed me all the way from London, that Whitney Houston passed away this evening. I was surprised, but also not surprised. I wish Whitney peace and blessings on her journey back to her creator. There’s no need to rehash her decline, we read and saw in great detail, a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice, go to a place she did not need to be. The song that means a lot to me is a fairly new one “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” This song helped me through a very difficult time in my own life. Thank you Whitney.
Here’s the video… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udCHfOEpuqU
Whitney may your soul be at peace, may your light shine again, and may you once again sing in God‘s choir. Peace and God Bless!
Leave Adele Alone…
In Daily Musings on February 10, 2012 at 1:28 pmI know I said I had a deadline, but this came across one of my news feeds and I just had to ask…
Why is everyone so pressed regarding Adele’s weight? Is it because she is not the so-called perfect size 0-4? I think she looks beautiful and she knows how to dress herself and look fantastic as well as fabulous. If she’s happy with how she looks then what’s the problem? I love this quote from her in an interview with People Magazine “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that“. Here’s another quote from her which will be in this weeks issue of People “I haven’t felt insecure about my figure. I wasn’t brought up like that”. My question is… Why does she have to explain herself? I don’t see anyone questioning Giselle about her size (the Brazilian model, married to Tom Brady for those of you who don’t know whom I’m referring to).
I’ve been reading for some time, how she has a beautiful voice, beautiful face, but she needs to lose weight. Doesn’t that sound like a back-handed compliment to you?? It does to me. I’ve read some nasty comments on Twitter and other social media sites, from people who I feel have their own personal body issues to deal with. As far as I’m concerned she’s beautiful, talented, confident, successful, nominated for a Grammy (or Grammies) and… Getting Paid!!! So leave her alone. Just yesterday Karl Largerfeld gave his 2 cents, saying she had a pretty face, but she’s a “little too fat”! only to have to turn around less than 24 hours later and apologize and tell the world he’s a huge fan. He now says his comment was taken out of context. Like I said before, leave her alone! Adele has no desire to be a size zero, so again I say… LEAVE HER ALONE! Love you Adele!
Watch Adele live at the Grammys on Sunday February 12th. BTW: Click on Adele’s name above (in orange) to see a trailer of her live at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
Remember, women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes, it’s all about how you carry yourself, how you feel about yourself, it’s about CONFIDENCE!!! Work it!
A quick capture of Adele having a little fun! it’s on a repetitive loop, but it’s cute anyway. http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz07ksWVri1qfqf4lo5_r2_250.gif
