Yellow Is The Colour…
In Daily Musings on April 17, 2013 at 9:32 pmMore Vintage…
In Daily Musings on April 2, 2013 at 1:42 pmYesterday, I posted a couple of pieces, I found at my favourite vintage store; I forgot to post this gorgeous black slip and peach coloured ballerina style nightgown, that I thought you’d love to see. I’m going to try the peach gown with a knee-length tank dress, belt it and maybe an additional vintage petticoat underneath to see how that works. I’ll let you know 🙂
A young lady I met, while shopping, picked up these beauties for $5!!
It’s another gorgeous day, a little chilly, but I’ll take it, because the sun is shining very brightly!

A Gorgeous Weekend Was Had…
In Daily Musings on April 1, 2013 at 1:21 pm
Wearing a vintage beaded scarf I picked up for $4!!
Also wearing earrings from the Maylana’s Closet “Touch of India Collection” coming soon.
Hello fabulous people. This morning truly looked like spring had finally sprung! After a gorgeous Saturday, a grey and dreary Sunday, today truly is starting out to be absolutely gorgeous. Can we finally exhale our collective breaths that spring has arrived?
I had a terrific weekend, I went scouting for vintage finds, at one of my favourite spots in Maryland, and came across a few goodies. I found this gorgeous brand new sequined French Connection dress, with tags, which retailed last season for $248, selling for under $100,!!! Alas, it was not in the Maylana’s Closet budget!
I also found this gorgeous Liz Claiborne ankle length coat dress for under $5!! I have not been a fan of Liz Claiborne for a number of years now, but this dress was too fantastic to resist. I’m going to wear this unbuttoned up to the thigh with shorts underneath, cinched at the waist with ankle strap flats or high heels depending on my mood, and then paired with a colourful clutch. Very 50’s.
Those of you who follow my blog, know I love Instagram {as well as Pinterest!}; here are some of my weekend images. If you’d like to follow me on IG, you can find me @Maylana.
I hope your Easter weekend, was as blessed, fabulous and productive as mine. Wishing you a Glorious Monday and a Fantastic and Amazing week.

Ooooh Shoxie…
In Daily Musings on March 8, 2013 at 4:50 pmWhile going through my Instagram feed, I discovered the lovely boutique Shoxie! When I saw this wrap maxi dress I was completely bowled over. At $125.00, I think it’s a steal in order to look gorgeous, for the upcoming summer affairs, where you want to look simple, yet elegant, and very nicely put together, without too much fuss. I’ve got my eye on either of the black and white striped dresses myself, or maybe the coral… decisions, decisions.
How would I wear? Sky high wedges and a neon clutch (post coming soon); topped off with my Tom Ford red lipstick in Cherry Lush, and I’m good to go 🙂
Make your way to their lovely online boutique here or click on the dresses above to be taken right to them!

In Daily Musings, Object's of Desire on November 26, 2012 at 2:53 pm
I haven’t written an Objects Of Desire post in a little while, but here’s one that caught my attention a few days ago. Mr. Tom Ford has released a complete set of his beautiful nail lacquers exclusively for Neiman Marcus priced at $480.00!
This exclusive 16 colour set has every possible shade you would ever need to carry your chic wardrobe from now to next spring/summer to enhance your chic wardrobe. Tom Ford nail lacquers retail for approximately $30 dollars each; why would you buy a $30 nail lacquer? Because you’re absolutely worth it! Again this is an Object of Desire, so maybe Santa will leave this under the tree for you, if you’ve been good this year.
Visit Neiman Marcus here
Well today is back to work Monday, after our long 4 day weekend. This is the real countdown to Christmas; how is your gift buying going? Have you started? Are you going to wait until christmas eve; or are you just buying a little something for you?
Have yourselves a Positive, Productive and Exhilarating week!

Another Chic Monday…
In Daily Musings on October 15, 2012 at 1:28 pmI had a really productive weekend; I photographed and uploaded some new inventory to my Etsy store, drafted a few potential blog posts and was all around very productive. Having your own business, truly is a beautiful thing; lots of hard work, but totally worth it. Stay tuned to the beautiful crochet cowls coming from Maylana’s Closet and the gorgeous knits coming from Sassy Knits; my big sister’s entrepreneurial venture in London.
Speaking of big sisters, here she is being her usual fabulous and gorgeous self; seen here with the extremely talented Omar at his concert in London on Saturday might; plus another pic with Jade {Baby Spice’s hubby}. I miss my big sis and hope to see her soon. Love you Al!! Smooches!
P.S. In case you’re wondering the beautiful clutch bag above is by Miu Miu.
Here’s a little Omar for you ~ One of my favourites, There’s Nothing Like This
Wishing you a Beautiful, Productive and Amazing week!

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Special Edition…
In Daily Musings, New Loves! on October 11, 2012 at 4:23 pmI’m just loving the beautiful red shoes Giuseppe Zanotti has just released. These beauties are a recreation of the red mules, the iconic actress, Katherine Hepburn, wore in the classic movie, Summertime, which was released in 1955 {I love black and white/old movies, the clothes, the style!}.
This beautiful recreation in suede with gold piping, studded with red crystals will truly make you the belle of the ball, this upcoming holiday season.

Book Clutches To Behold…
In Daily Musings on October 10, 2012 at 10:29 amDo you want everyone to know you’re an elegant book-worm? If you’re like me, you always have a book in your bag {though some prefer Kindles or Nooks, I still prefer paper}; well you can with these beautiful quirky reinterpretations of hardcover literary classics; recreated as book clutches by Parisian designer, Olympia Le-Tan. Chanel and Kate Spade also have their own versions {I love the Chanel one above}. For those of us who’ve been around a while, we know this trend is not new.
I remember the Vogue magazine clutches of the 80’s, glossy elongated envelopes created with classic Vogue covers. I wish I had one now! These unique treasures have lately been seen on the red carpet of various events. The clutches are retailing between $1120 – $1420. What I do love about the Olympia Le-Tan clutches is that they are lined in beautiful Liberty of London fabric.
It appears the Olympia Le-Tan clutches, which appeared around 2009 are becoming collectors items, because the more popular titles have become hard to come by, and of course are selling on eBay at ridiculous prices. If you are DIY inclined (the route I would go!), here is a link by Scibbit which shows you step by step how to create your own book clutch for a fraction of the price. click here; and here’s another tutorial from the Huffington Post; creating a clutch from an actual book. click here
