This is how I’m spending today. No this is not my bedroom (oh how I wish!), but hopefully you get the idea. I just found this image on Domino Mag online (watch out for a future post on the now defunct Domino Magazine). I’m fighting off a potential cold, therefore, I’m not in a blogging mood today. So, as a compromise, I thought I’d post this peaceful visual for you, it does makes me feel a little better.

Good morning darlings! This Monday is a bit of a dreary one, with drizzling rain here in DC; after 2 glorious days of sunshine. Above are your tasks for this week. Let’s try (myself included) to apply some, if not all of them to our lives. Read through it pick out the ones that really speak to you and apply them. I’m sure we’ll all feel better for it. This weekend? Did you make the most of the last two days? Did you accomplish everything you set out to do? I hope you did. Are you energized and ready to take on the new week? You better be, because it’s here!!! I had a great weekend. I spent a lot of time sourcing inventory for my new Etsy boutique www.etsy.com/shop/maylanascloset The downfall of shopping for inventory; is every gorgeous piece I find, I want to keep it for myself!
As I was writing this blog post, I received an email that I had just sold the Diane von Furstenberg dress I had listed on Etsy! My first Etsy sale!!! I wanted to pass out, I could barely concentrate on finishing this post… Wow what a feeling!
Searching for good quality vintage is a full-time job in itself. You come across a lot of rubbish, but amongst all the garbage there are some true treasures to be found, and boy did I find them, especially on Sunday. I love what I do, and my clients love what I do, so it makes it all worth while. I plan to bring fantastic pieces to you on a regular basis. In the next few months, watch out for beautiful items, that will be arriving from Portobello Road market in London, courtesy of my sister, who is the ultimate style trendsetter in her own right. Keep watching this blog, I’ll let you know each time I upload something new.

1 year ago today, I left a high paying job of 8 years to step out in faith, and follow my own path. Sometimes you have to take a risk, risk can be good! It’s important to calculate your risks as best as you can; more importantly, put your faith in God, he will never steer you wrong. A good paying job does not instantly mean happiness, I found that out the hard way. A high paying job does not guarantee you good health, good relationships or good associates, I found that out too.
There’s nothing wrong with working for corporate America, corporate UK or wherever you are in the world, just make sure you are in that job for the right reasons and not just to get a cheque. I choose to work for myself. I’m an Aquarian, I am creative, I need to just be… Me!
In the last 12 months I have not looked back. Instead, I started my blog, stepped up my crochet business, opened my Etsy store, figured out Twitter, taken on contract work; made fantastic friends on Instagram (and Twitter), and more importantly I became one happy, over the moon, high-heeled strutting, loving her life, vintage wearing woman! It’s been an amazing journey. Believe me, I haven’t really started yet! There’s so much more to come!
There are those who rooted for me every step of the way, and from the bottom of my heart, I truly thank you. You’ve helped to make this journey what it is.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I certainly did. I attended the fabulous launch of Genties Bow Ties, designed by Antoine. It truly was colourful event, held on the roof top of Ozio’s Wine & Cigar Bar, beautiful weather and beautiful people. Watch out for my blog post on Genties within the next few days.
