The simplicity of this outfit is in two words… stunning and elegant! I love it. Look at that skirt, simply gorgeous. I found this photo a few minues ago via Pinterest, and just had to post it.
I hope you’re having a beautiful weekend!
Today has been the craziest and busiest day so far, therefore I have not had time to write today’s post. I usually have what I call fill-in posts written in advance for when I’m busy, but I’ve been a little swamped over the past week. Today I’m reposting an article that has been very popular and has generated a lot of interest.
To all my lovely bombshells who have been asking; the answer is NO!!! I have not found this bag; and not for the lack of trying!! This aqua coloured Coach bag is the most elusive and obviously exclusive and rare Coach bag ever! I have tried several avenues of trying to locate this bag, even calling outside the country; but to no avail. This bag is easy to obtain in any other colour but the aqua; apparently Coach only released a very limited run in this colour. At this time, we shall just have to continue to drool over the photo.
Stay tuned, I’m still searching!!!
ORIGINAL POST ~ APRIL 16, 2012
I just discovered this amazing aqua coloured Coach bag which I found on @justsitpretty’s Pinterest board. Do you hear me screaming just have to have!!! I am obsessed with this colour. This bag is simply gorgeous!!! It is 11:11 pm at night. I’m going to track this baby down tomorrow.
Update 4/17 – just found out from @justsitpretty this bag is called the Kristin Elevated Satchel and it’s no longer available in aqua… Bummer! eBay here I come!!!
Have yourselves the most fabulous and amazing weekend!!
Starting Friday, June 29, I will be debuting a new monthly feature titled ” Maylana’s Closet Objects of Desire” whether it’s a pink pony, a vacation in the Maldives or a red convertible Bentley, it will be my dream list of over the top items if money were no object. (some affordable things will make it too!) Hey I’m allowed to dream aren’t I? And so should you! Maylana’s Closet Objects of Desire will be posted on the last Friday of each month.
Look out for the fabulous, the opulent, over the top and sometimes affordable bits and pieces. What’s on your wish list? We’re going to have fun with this!
Even though it’s not yet the 29th, I couldn’t wait to show you my first object of desire… Why? Because I need one of these like yesterday!
I want a Canon EOS Rebel T3i or T2i camera, because every blogger and/or boutique owner worth her salt, who constantly takes photos needs one; an iPhone camera will only take you so far! Lowest Price found via Nextag ~$618 ~$749 at Wal-Mart (hopefully there’ll be a sale July 4th). This camera is one of the best in its class and at a great price. It’s easy to use (point and shoot), fantastic professional photos and lots of cool features such as: 18 MP, creative filters, wide 3″ clear view LCD monitor, HD movie mode, and many other brilliant features too numerous to mention here. Plus, I think I’ll look quite cool with one of these at the numerous events I’m being invited to this summer. 🙂
You can take a look at specs here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Canon-18MP-5169B003AA/15754553?ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=15754553&sourceid=1500000000000003142050&veh=cse
Have yourselves an amazing Wednesday!
I’m quite intrigued by the heel less shoe which is trying to be the current trend right now (note: I said trying). Thanks in part to Lady Gaga strutting in her Noritaka Tatehana designed shoe back in 2011. What I’ve noticed, is you either really hate this shoe or you really love it. I’m still undecided as I don’t see myself wearing these 20 years from now (will these ever be vintage? NOT!). I do think these red sparkly ones above would look great on display in my living room though; what else would you do with these shoes?. I’ve written about these shoes before, but was inspired to write about them again after attending a fabulous event a couple of weekends ago. There were at least 3 women teetering around in these imaginary 5 inch wonders.
After some research and watching YouTube videos, I found out that these shoes are fairly easy to walk in. Apparently the trick is that the shoes are actually quite heavy because they are weighted in the platform base under the toe. Therefore, all your weight is forced forwards, then downwards, so you are unable to tip backwards (I’m still not truly convinced about that). On the flip side, I’ve also seen YouTube videos of fashion shows, where models have stumbled and fallen flat on their faces; not a pretty sight! This is probably the last time you’ll hear about these shoes from me for a while, I’m moving on to other interesting things!
Have an amazing Tuesday!
This weekend? Did you make the most of the last two days? Did you accomplish everything you set out to do? I hope you did. Are you energized and ready to take on the new week? You better be, because it’s here!!! I had a great weekend. I spent a lot of time sourcing inventory for my new Etsy boutique www.etsy.com/shop/maylanascloset The downfall of shopping for inventory; is every gorgeous piece I find, I want to keep it for myself!
As I was writing this blog post, I received an email that I had just sold the Diane von Furstenberg dress I had listed on Etsy! My first Etsy sale!!! I wanted to pass out, I could barely concentrate on finishing this post… Wow what a feeling!
Searching for good quality vintage is a full-time job in itself. You come across a lot of rubbish, but amongst all the garbage there are some true treasures to be found, and boy did I find them, especially on Sunday. I love what I do, and my clients love what I do, so it makes it all worth while. I plan to bring fantastic pieces to you on a regular basis. In the next few months, watch out for beautiful items, that will be arriving from Portobello Road market in London, courtesy of my sister, who is the ultimate style trendsetter in her own right. Keep watching this blog, I’ll let you know each time I upload something new.
We’re at the start of a new week, let’s make it superb, with some fabulous and marvelous thrown in for good measure.
Have a blessed week Dahhlings!

The Trina Turk capsule collection for Banana Republic, which was released yesterday, is in my opinion very Miami. Swirls of pinks, purples, blues, greens, and oranges. This colourful collection makes you want to sit fly out to the Caribbean to a swanky hotel and sit in a lounge chair by the infinity pool, while you sip delicately on a Pimms cocktail. Now wouldn’t that be lovely!
My favourites from the collection are a short strapless dress and a one shoulder number, going for approximately $150 and $130 respectively.
This collection will probably go quickly, so mosey on over to www.bananarepublic.com to buy your little piece of vacation paradise.
Today is National Best Friends Day. What would you have done without your best friend? Give your best friend a hug, a call, send an e-card or whatever you need to do, to let them know that you love and appreciate them. For keeping all your secrets, always being there when things got tough, and never ever keeping score; Thank Them.

Happy Friday Dahhlings!
1 year ago today, I left a high paying job of 8 years to step out in faith, and follow my own path. Sometimes you have to take a risk, risk can be good! It’s important to calculate your risks as best as you can; more importantly, put your faith in God, he will never steer you wrong. A good paying job does not instantly mean happiness, I found that out the hard way. A high paying job does not guarantee you good health, good relationships or good associates, I found that out too.
There’s nothing wrong with working for corporate America, corporate UK or wherever you are in the world, just make sure you are in that job for the right reasons and not just to get a cheque. I choose to work for myself. I’m an Aquarian, I am creative, I need to just be… Me!
In the last 12 months I have not looked back. Instead, I started my blog, stepped up my crochet business, opened my Etsy store, figured out Twitter, taken on contract work; made fantastic friends on Instagram (and Twitter), and more importantly I became one happy, over the moon, high-heeled strutting, loving her life, vintage wearing woman! It’s been an amazing journey. Believe me, I haven’t really started yet! There’s so much more to come!
There are those who rooted for me every step of the way, and from the bottom of my heart, I truly thank you. You’ve helped to make this journey what it is.
Be you… Always!
Love & light.

Click image to see Grace Jones perform Slave To The Rhythm ~ Hula Hoop and all at Buckingham Palace!
This is who I want to be when I grow up to be 64 years old!! My sister called me from London and alerted me to Grace Jones‘ Slave To the Rhythm performance at Buckingham Place for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee… Wow!! There is no one more fabulous than Ms. Jones. Grace appears on stage with a hula hoop by her side, then proceeds to hula hoop through the entire song! She Hula Hoops!!!! Check out Grace’s legs!!!
Grace makes me proud to be a British Born Jamaican!! As my sister says “She is a bad gyal” (in Jamaican dialect). At 64 Grace is still the rocking Glamazon she’s always been.
Big up Ms. Jones! Yes we love the rhythm!
Enjoy the video!
