Hi Dahhlings… Here we are again, another Monday, even though it’s trying to snow here, it’s still a beautiful day.¬† I’m feeling so much better after my sluggish week last week; my body has finally caught up to the Daylight Savings Time change ūüôā

I had a great weekend; I created a¬†couple of my flower¬†hats in spring/easter colours, as well as sorting and organizing myself, both mentally and physically.¬† It was a recalibration of sorts!¬† I’m still reading “The Secret” which has been a fantastic source of inspiration for me.¬† As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, this is my second time reading it, which has been much more fulfilling then the first time around.¬† I’m coming to the end and I plan to re-read it all over again!

Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type

Last week I received¬†my copy of Eat Right 4 Your¬†Type, a book which was first published in 1997 by Dr. Peter J.D’Adamo.¬† The premise of the book is that due to our individual¬†blood types, there are certain foods which are not conducive to our overall health and well-being.

My sister has been on this lifestyle food plan for approximately 6 years, and it truly has done wonders for her, she is testament to me, that it actually works.

The book explains the reasons why certain foods are not good for us, and guides you through the process of eliminating them. ¬†to learn more, click here.¬† I’ll keep you up to date on my progress.¬† Click on the image or¬†red link above¬†to be taken to the Amazon website to order yours.

Have yourselves a Creative, Positive and Amazing week!

{From The Archives} 10 Things…

In Daily Musings on December 9, 2012 at 12:22 pm

This is a post I wrote back in May. ¬†It’s very timely for me at the moment and I hope it is for you too.¬† It’s just a gentle reminder that we must always take care of ourselve.

“Life Is¬†A Song Worth Singing” This is the title from one of my favourite Teddy Pendergrass albums. ¬†Life truly is worth¬†singing!¬†

Happy Sunday to you… Mwah ūüôā

It’s Friday!!!! Time to kick up your¬†heels,¬†and celebrate the weekend.

Here are a¬†10 things you¬†should do for yourself this weekend.¬† Pick a few or better yet do them all. You’ve got 2 days!!

  1. Buy yourself some flowers or an orchid plant
  2. Treat yourself to a mani/pedi and if it’s not in the budget do it¬†yourself.
  3. Give yourself a facial, your skin will love you for it. (click link for homemade recipe)
  4. Treat yourself to a quality glass of wine or better yet champagne and if you don’t drink pour some sparkling cider in your best champagne flute and toast yourself for being such a fantastic person.
  5. Go to¬†Barnes & Noble¬†or any bookstore and treat yourself to a good book; here’s one for you, Roots of Style” by Isabel Toledo
  6. Take a walk.¬† Just walk around the neighbourhood.¬† 2 things will happen here; (a) you’ll get some exercise and (b) you may just notice something you never noticed before.¬† If you live in a boring neighbourhood, drive/walk somewhere, where there’s scenery and walk there (no excuses).
  7. Buy or download the¬†Anthony Hamilton cd¬†“Back to Love”¬†you’ll be glad you did.
  8. Buy or download the new Estelle cd, “All of Me“, you’ll be glad you did that too.
  9. Instead of having breakfast at home on Sunday, get dressed, find somewhere cute and go out for brunch, let someone else cook for a change
  10. Sunday night take a luxurious bubble bath, with your glass of champagne/sparkling cider,¬†and the book you bought, then relax and think about how wonderful you are, and how much you’re looking forward to the¬†brilliant and blessed week ahead of you.

Have a fabulous weekend Chicas!

Happy Monday Dahhlings! I hope you had a terrific weekend. The weather was wonderful here (still is), not sweltering, not too humid, just right.

This morning when I booted up my computer, my Weather Bug popped up with its usual ad stream, and there was an ad called “Post Goodness“.¬† For some unknown reason, I decided to click on it, and was I glad I did.¬† On this site you post your good intentions of the day.¬† There’s a red box to “Post Yours“;¬†well I must say this went on for about 10 minutes, where I was posting what I intended to do today; i.e. drink more water, work out 15 minutes¬†longer, create blog posts for the next¬†3 days, upload more pics to my Etsy store,¬†etc.

Each entry starts differently “Today I Will____”, “More_____, Less_____” plus many more variations.¬† It’s the luck of the draw, but it gets you thinking about what you¬†propose to do, that’s good for you. ¬†Just Do You!¬† It’s like posting a¬†one line motivational journal entry to yourself.¬†¬†You’ll see hundreds of other posts; it seems this¬†site is quite popular. ¬†I’ve posted the link for you to post your own.¬† I think you’ll find it as addictive as I did.¬† Click here and Post Yours.

Have yourselves an amazing and productive week!

Monday Musings…

Hello dahhlings, I hope you had a wonderful weekend like I did.¬† I attended¬†a wonderful brunch, which was topped off by going to a drag show!¬† Oh My… those guys are amazing, the make up, the hair and the gowns! Stunning!! I¬†did take pics, but they came out so dark, they weren’t blog worthy.¬† It was a spur of the moment thing, so hopefully the next time I go I’ll take some better shots to show you.

As reminder…

You really should! There’s no time like the present.¬† What¬†are you waiting for?

It’s going to be another¬†light week of posts, but again I’ll always try to bring you a little something.¬† Summer is going by really quickly; can you believe the end of July is¬†next week!

Wishing you a wonderful, amazing and fabulous week.¬† Take heed of both quotes above; remember you’re beautiful, live life to the fullest, and always continue to… Evolve and Embrace Yourself!

Faithful Mondays…

In Daily Musings on June 18, 2012 at 11:21 am

Good morning darlings! This Monday is a bit of a dreary one, with drizzling rain here in DC; after 2 glorious days of sunshine. ¬†Above¬†are your tasks for this week.¬† Let’s try (myself included) to apply some, if not all of them to our lives.¬† Read through it pick out the ones that really¬†speak to you and apply them.¬† I’m sure we’ll all feel better for it.¬† Have yourselves a positive, blessed and productive¬†week.¬†

Also, make sure to¬†tune in¬†to Maylana’s Closet on Wednesday, I have¬† a little something¬†in store for you… You don’t want to miss it!

Happy Monday Dahhlings!

This captures exactly how I’m feeling this Monday morning!

What Did You Do…

In Daily Musings on June 11, 2012 at 11:13 am

¬†This weekend?¬† Did you make the most of¬†the¬†last two days?¬† Did you accomplish everything you set out to do?¬† I hope you did.¬† Are you energized and ready to take on the new week?¬† You better be, because it’s here!!! I had a great weekend.¬† I spent a lot of time¬†sourcing inventory for my new Etsy¬†boutique¬†¬† The downfall of shopping for inventory; is every¬†gorgeous piece I find, I want to keep it for myself!

As I was writing this blog post, I received¬†an email that I had just sold the Diane von Furstenberg dress I had listed on Etsy! My first Etsy sale!!! I wanted to pass out, I could barely concentrate on finishing this post… Wow what a feeling!

Searching for good quality vintage is a full-time job in itself.¬† You come across a lot of rubbish, but amongst all the garbage there are some true treasures to be found, and boy did I find them, especially on Sunday.¬† I love what I do, and my clients love what I do, so it makes it all worth while.¬† I plan to¬†bring¬†fantastic¬†pieces to you on a regular basis.¬† In the next few months, watch out for beautiful items, that will be arriving¬† from Portobello Road market in London, courtesy of my sister, who is the ultimate¬†style trendsetter in her own right.¬† Keep watching this blog,¬†I’ll let you know each time I upload something new.

I love the rollers!

We’re at the start of a new week, let’s make it superb, with some¬†fabulous and marvelous thrown in for good measure.

Peonies I bought yesterday. Did you treat yourself to some flowers? If not treat yourself today!!

Have a blessed week Dahhlings!

Love & Light!

Stepping Out In Faith…

In Daily Musings on June 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

1 year ago today, I left a high paying job of 8 years to step out¬†in faith, and follow my own path.¬† Sometimes you have to take a risk, risk can be good!¬† It’s important to calculate your risks as best as you can; more importantly, put your faith in God, he will never steer you¬†wrong.¬† A good paying job does not instantly mean happiness, I found that out the hard way.¬† A high paying job does not guarantee you good health, good relationships or¬† good associates, I found that out too.¬†

There’s nothing wrong with working for corporate America, corporate UK or wherever you are in the world, just make sure you are in that job for the right reasons and not¬†just to¬†get a cheque.¬† I choose to work for myself.¬† I’m an Aquarian, I am¬†creative, I need to just be… Me!

In the last 12 months I have not looked back.¬† Instead, I started my blog, stepped up my crochet business, opened my Etsy store, figured out Twitter, taken on contract work; made fantastic friends on Instagram (and Twitter), and more importantly I became one happy, over the moon, high-heeled strutting, loving her life,¬†vintage wearing¬†woman! It’s been an amazing journey.¬† Believe me, I haven’t really started yet! There’s so much more to come!

There are those who rooted for me every step of the way, and from the bottom of my heart, I truly thank you. You’ve helped to make this journey what it is.

Be you… Always!

Love & light.
