While getting my bi-weekly haircut on Saturday, which at this point was actually at 3 weeks (busy, busy), who should walk into the salon, but Emmy award-winning make-up artist, Mr. Reggie Wells himself! Who is Reggie Wells? some of you may ask; Mr. Wells was Oprah Winfrey’s makeup artist for 20 plus years!
He was an absolute darling and a pleasure to talk to and was so down to earth with no airs and graces. Reggie had us all rolling with laughter within 15 minutes of his arrival. Reggie has worked with all the major stars including: Chaka Khan, Diahann Carroll, Oprah Winfrey, Iman, Whitney Houston, and more. Unfortunately I was unable to take a pic with him, though he was willing; but I was smack in the middle of my haircut and colour and he had to leave. So here is my photo of Mr. Reggie Wells and Mr. Duvall who is the owner of the salon.

Can you believe Mr Duvall is 82 years young!! He is one of the sharpest business men I know, with amazing stories of Washington, DC in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. To read more about Reggie’s time with Oprah click here.
Mr. Wells is also the International Creative Director of Australia’s beauty brand Hissyfit. Hissyfit is the brainchild of Australia’s Olympic gold medalist Louise Dobson and former magazine editor Sue Smethurst. To see more on Hissy Fit click on the link.
Wishing you an amazing and productive week. Smooches!

I’m in love with these ballet flats from J. Crew. With it’s very lady like, yet edgy, gold chain T-strap. it’s the ideal dainty running around shoe, when heels just won’t do, but you still want to look chic. Also available in black ~ $198 at J. Crew.
I had to post this shot of Linda Rodin from the J. Crew 2012 fall campaign, who is still fierce at 63 years old! ~ Stylist turned beauty guru, still modeling, running a successful skin care line for mature women, among other things. I love this quote from her “You can’t chase youth. You’ll just look older with a face lift.” How true!

This is going to be an extremely busy week, so my posts might be sparse; but I’ll try to send out a few short posts to keep you smiling. Look out for some great images from New York Fashion week, courtesy of my friends over at Medina=Citi {yes the equal sign is deliberate}.
Do wonderful things with the rest of the week!

Click image to see Grace Jones perform Slave To The Rhythm ~ Hula Hoop and all at Buckingham Palace!
It’s been an extremely busy week, so from the archives, here’s a repost of an article I wrote back in June. Ms. Grace Jones hula hooping at Buckingham Palace, in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee. Click on the image to enjoy the video.
This is who I want to be when I grow up to be 64 years old!! My sister called me from London and alerted me to Grace Jones‘ Slave To the Rhythm performance at Buckingham Place for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee… Wow!! There is no one more fabulous than Ms. Jones. Grace appears on stage with a hula hoop by her side, then proceeds to hula hoop through the entire song! She Hula Hoops!!!! Check out Grace’s legs!!!
Grace makes me proud to be a British Born Jamaican!! As my sister says “She is a bad gyal” (in Jamaican dialect). At 64 Grace is still the rocking Glamazon she’s always been.
Big up Ms. Jones! Yes we love the rhythm!
Enjoy the video!

Happy Wednesday Dahhlings! We’re half way there, speeding towards the weekend; so to help you along, I’m sending some cheerful colour into your life.
I Found this gorgeous shot on Pinterest and had to post it for you. I felt the colours were amazing with her exotic almond shaped eyes, and decided that all this sparkle, was just the thing to perk you up, and help you through the next 2 days. WE’RE NEARLY THERE!
I need your help; can anyone think of another term for Wednesday instead of “hump day“? I really dislike that term! Isn’t there something more fun and a little more chic we could use?

In Daily Musings, New Loves!, Object's of Desire on September 11, 2012 at 6:44 am

I met a lovely young lady recently, who was wearing the most gorgeous ring on a chain around her neck. The reason said ring is placed there, is because she is 8 months pregnant, and therefore it’s not comfortable to wear at this time. When I asked her about it, she told me her uncle in law created it for her. Well… What an absolute treasure this turned out to be.
Who is her uncle? His name is Harry Roa, a fantastic jewelry designer based in Sarasota Florida. Harry is the designer and owner of Harry Roa Jewelry Design Studio and Gallery {click here}, as well as the OceanLily jewelry boutique which carry his limited editions on Etsy {click here}.
All of his designs are handcrafted using a combination lost wax process and fabrication. Harry uses Palladium, which is more precious than silver, whiter and lighter than platinum. Palladium is also a tarnish free metal. He also works with 14K gold.
Each piece of wearable art {and they truly are!} is embellished with quality precious gemstones and diamonds. Mr. Roa does not produce any molds of any of his pieces; therefore, making each piece a one of a kind. If you’d like to contact Harry in order to commission a special piece, you can contact him via his website.
The ring above is called PS In The Evening ~ That’s the one I have my eye on, it is beyond GORGEOUS!!!
If you do nothing else today, visit Harry’s websites. Each piece is absolutely Stunning!

All images/designs are the properties of Harry Roa Studio and OceanLily Studio

I just received my Fashion’s Night Out tote bag from QVC {Ordered it on Thursday}, who powered the fashionsnightout.com website for last week’s event. I must say I am surprised that the quality is as good as it is {which it should be for $50!}.
It’s manufactured by Brahmin {pricey handbag company} from heavy-duty cotton, with really nice quality soft leather handles and side accents; not the cheap crappy stuff.
The best thing about this tote is, that the net proceeds raised from the sale of this Vogue designed bag, will benefit “Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, the charitable initiative of the CFDA Foundation, Inc.
For your own tote click here.

In Daily Musings, New Loves! on September 7, 2012 at 6:50 am

I’m loving this still photo from Solange’s latest music video for her upcoming single “Losing You“, which was shot in a township in South Africa. Local young men dressed in some rather dapper fashions are one of the highlights of the video.
Solange was inspired to shoot her video in South Africa because of the color in the architecture, the townships and the people. The new single has been described as “eclectic with ’80s references and African percussion influences.
I’ve always preferred Solange, I relate more to her sense of style, and I feel she’s someone I could really hang out with to shoot the breeze and talk about real style!
I’m looking forward to seeing the concept, the styling, and hearing the music from Solange’s new project.

I love this photo of Solange and her son in the colours splashed bedroom of her Brooklyn apartment, featured in the September issue of Elle Magazine
Have yourselves a Relaxing, Amazing and Extraordinary weekend!
